Why you can’t sleep on the couch

Why you can’t sleep on the couch

Even on a folding one. Even if the manufacturer calls it “sofa bed”.

They say that buying a normal full bed is one of the signs that you have become an adult. Because an adult person takes care of himself, he does not care what he sleeps on, he is not indifferent to his own comfort. However, there are more prosaic reasons why you should avoid sleeping on the couch. Yes, despite the fact that a folding sofa is a huge saving in space in the apartment.

No, we’re not suggesting that you walk on the couch with your shoes on or don’t clean the house often enough. But even if you vacuum the sofa every day, it’s not enough to keep you sleeping. After all, while it is folded, people sit on it, and often in street clothes, and sometimes even jump. To maintain proper hygiene, you should wash your sofa cushions as often as you wash your sheets. Hardly anyone has such an opportunity. However, if you want to get confused, you can clean the sofa with hot steam and wash the covers.

It may be springy, coconut, whatever, but the sofa still distributes the weight of your body incorrectly. Unlike the mattress, which provides the correct support for the joints and the spine, it is specially designed to be comfortable and not hurt in the morning. By the way, how to choose the perfect mattress, taking into account the recommendations of experts, you can read the link. The sofa was invented so that it would be comfortable to sit on it, sometimes even lie down, but not sleep all night long. Experts even claim that it is better to sleep on the floor than on the couch: there is less chance of waking up with back pain.

The sides of the mattress, you will not believe, are designed for different seasons. Therefore, twice a year, they need to be turned over for reasons of heat preservation: one is more comfortable in summer, the other in winter. By the way, twice a year the mattress needs to be turned upside down, changing the position of the head and legs so that it is evenly pressed through. But in the case of the sofa, there are no possibilities for heat regulation. Therefore, you will often wake up sweating or shaking from the cold.

A good bed is always more comfortable. You just lie down and that’s it. No need to twirl around in search of a comfortable position. And no seams, folds, crevices between pillows. It’s just convenient for you. This means you will sleep better – the likelihood of waking up broken, with stiff joints and neck is significantly reduced. In addition, the beds are often at least a little, but more than even a double sofa bed. And this is where size matters.

Sofas are often made from chipboard – chipboards, which contain a special glue that helps sawdust and shavings stick together. If the material is not entirely of high quality, these very plates can release toxins into the air for years. The same goes for the upholstery. If you buy a bed, you are not completely insured against poisonous materials, but you can always choose a bed made of real wood or metal. And as mattresses undergo an examination that will not allow toxins to seep into your life.

Then it only remains to minimize the harm that sleep on an unsuitable surface can cause to the body:

– protect the sofa from improper use: if you sleep on it, then try to sit on it less often during the day – it will be cleaner;

– in the morning, do exercises for the muscles and joints of the neck, back: rotation of the head, pelvis, shoulders, light stretching;

– take care of high-quality bedding: it should be made from natural materials to ensure comfort during sleep. Still, comfort is the thing that never happens.
