Why won’t my LG washing machine turn on? 5 Possible Causes of CMA Breakdown

We decided to start washing, but there was a problem – the washing machine does not turn on LG? In such cases, you need to start troubleshooting or call a repairman. Do not rush to count losses, sometimes the problem is quite trifling.

Why is the washing machine not working?

The most common reason that the washing machine does not start is a power outage. Check, perhaps there is no power supply in the house, and you are sinning on equipment. If everything is in order with the power supply, then it is worth checking the machine along the chain. The levers could be disabled due to network congestion.

If you have an RCD, then see if the machine has worked. This is possible when current leaks to the case, for example, if the wiring is damaged. What are the other causes of the problem:

  • The socket has failed. It’s easy to find out – plug another device into the outlet. Does not work? So it’s time to call an electrician.
  • Damaged power cord. Inspect the outer wire and plug of the washer. Perhaps the cord was crushed by furniture or the insulation was interrupted. The fork could melt. Any damage requires immediate replacement of the elements – this concerns the safety of the whole family.
  • FSP (noise filter) burned out. The filter dampens interference that, when the washing machine is turned on, may interfere with the operation of other appliances. Most often, the part fails due to power surges in the network.
  • The start button does not work. This happens when the contacts and the same noise filter are damaged. Defective parts need to be replaced.
  • The control module is broken. This element controls the operation of all mechanisms of the machine. Therefore, in the event of a breakdown, high-quality diagnostics by the master and repair are required.

There is another problem as well. When plugged into the network, the Lji machine turns on, but the wash does not start. This is possible with UBL malfunctions (door lock). In this case, the part cannot be repaired, the installation of a serviceable element is required.

Noise filter replacement

To assess the condition of the FSP, it is necessary to remove the top cover of the machine. Regardless of the model (LG WD or other type), the filter is always located on top of the side or rear wall. Do this:

  • Unplug the washer from the mains.
  • Unscrew the two screws on the back and remove the cover from the housing.
  • FSP is a small cylindrical object with wires.
  • Inspect the part for damage (bulging, burns).

If there are no external signs of breakdown, then you need to ring the element with a multimeter. To do this, attach the tester probes first to the input and then the output contacts of the filter. If the voltage is ringing at the input, but not at the output, the FSP is not working.

To replace, select a similar part. Disconnect the wiring from the old filter, unscrew the mounting bolts. Connect a working FSP and check the operation of the equipment.

Checking the power button and control module

Is the filter okay? Then, without closing the lid, proceed to inspect the “Start” button. The fact is that electricity first passes through the power cord through the FSP, and then reaches the On / Off button. Therefore, the contacts or wiring of the key could be damaged. Often this happens both from power surges and from high humidity in the room where the washer is located.

To carry out diagnostics, dismantle the control panel:

  • Pull out the powder tray by pressing the latch in the center.
  • Unscrew the fixing bolts around the perimeter of the panel.
  • Release the latches and remove the block.

You can immediately disconnect the wiring. Take a photo of the wires beforehand so that you can make the correct connection later. Now set the multimeter to buzzer mode and ring the button. If the tester is working properly, it will start beeping, otherwise it will be silent. The key cannot be repaired, only completely replaced.

If the machine turns on and off, inspect the electronic board. Burnt tracks may be visible on the surface. It is worth repairing the module or it is better to replace it – the master will decide.

The video shows the process of diagnosing the electronic board by the master:

Replacing the locking device

SMA stopped running the wash? The indicators on the panel are on, so what’s the problem? After loading the laundry, press the hatch door tighter. If the sound of water intake is not heard, then proceed to check the UBL. Follow instructions:

  • After disconnecting the machine from the mains, close the inlet valve.
  • Open the door, bend the seal and remove the metal clamp by prying with a screwdriver.
  • Load the rubber into the drum.
  • Unscrew the two bolts securing the UBL.
  • Remove the blocker and disconnect the wires.

For diagnostics, attach the multimeter probes to the neutral and phase contacts. The blocker is working if a three-digit number is displayed on the screen. In other cases, the part needs to be replaced.

Following the recommendations, you can independently diagnose the internal elements of the SMA, detect and eliminate the breakdown. It is better to entrust electrical problems to the master. Otherwise, to avoid such problems, use voltage stabilizer. The device will protect the washing machine from premature failure.
