Why they take a huge deposit from tenants: 15 talking photos

When we conclude a contract, it seems terribly unfair: in one fell swoop you give away triple the cost of a month’s rent. After all, you need to pay for the apartment itself, and give the realtor a decent commission, and even a deposit. And homeowners believe that this is not enough!

Usually forums are full of stories about inadequate owners of rented apartments. Quite often they appear without an invitation or warning, prohibit receiving guests, rummaging in things, making claims for broken things that were broken long before, but this was not reflected in the contract. And the collateral becomes the thing for which the owner and the tenant are fighting for life and death.

However, each story has two participants. From the point of view of the owner of the home – the landlord, as he is also pathetically called – the situation looks very different. We have already told you what the tenants turn their apartments into – they even manage to burn furniture. Or how the tenants do dirty tricks with children who are not able to look after the children. And today we decided to show it.

Jerry Ucci shared his sad story: he rents an apartment and is sincerely sure that the rent and the deposit are never too high. He was very lucky with the tenants. He, as an honest man, did not come to the apartment where the parents lived with a small child to be checked. However, in the United States, this is more difficult: you can’t just come, you need to warn, there must be one of the tenants at home. And when these same tenants moved out, Jerry was shocked.

At first it turned out that there was a rabbit in a cage in the house. Escaping from the apartment, they threw the cage – along with the rabbit. He sat in a locked apartment for several days. Moreover, the owners did not consider it necessary to clean his cage before. Lived here and dogs, which they forgot to walk. Now the owner will have to change the floors soaked through with urine. Dirty diapers were stuffed in all corners. They were even hidden behind kitchen cabinets. The walls are painted with children’s scribbles and stained with fly marks. And the smell, according to Jerry, was such that it was simply impossible to be in the room.

Jerry estimates that the renovation will cost him at least $ 10. Of course, the cost of a six-month lease (this is how many rare and dirty people lived there) will not cover the costs, even taking into account the deposit.

“Most of my guests are wonderful people, you never have a problem with them. But these few disgusting people just smashed my apartment, ”says Jerry.

And to prove his claims, he posted photographs of what his apartment had become. We publish the most eloquent ones.
