Why the head hurts at the dacha: 5 possible reasons

And the coronavirus has nothing to do with it!

Have you ever noticed: here you are finally in nature, enjoying rest or gardening work, and your head is just splitting. Or it hurts a lot. Or slightly, but still unpleasant. What is the matter here? It would seem that in such conditions you should feel better than in an apartment or office. It turns out that the malaise can be explained by several reasons at once.

1. Air supersaturation

In order to be in comfortable conditions for oneself, a person needs 600 aerons per 1 cm.3… In apartments and offices, where people spend the overwhelming part of the day, there are much fewer of them – only 20-80. In the forest, however, this norm is exceeded and reaches 2000-2500 per cubic centimeter, and in the mountains – up to 3000. Here we should speak not about hypoxia, but about supersaturation with fresh air (in some cases, about poisoning by it). From here headaches also appear.

2. Hypothermia

Headaches while walking in the woods on a cool early morning or late cold evening can be associated with hypothermia or allergies to cold. Such a phenomenon as meteopathy can manifest itself completely unexpectedly. A person suffering from increased sensitivity to weather changes reacts sharply to an excess of ozone in forest air (it is especially abundant in pine forests and coniferous forests). As a result, conjunctivitis, cough, headache, dizziness appear. Asthmatics and pregnant women should be especially careful when planning such walks.

3. Overheating

Our body cools down on its own, increasing blood flow to the skin of the body, including the skull. Therefore, anything that causes the body to overheat, such as the hot May weather, can cause headaches in sensitive people. The condition is relieved by lowering the temperature of the skin with the help of cold baths or compresses. But first of all, make sure that there is enough shade in your summer cottage – from an umbrella or tree branches.

4. Food poisoning

Milk from a neighboring village, an abundance of fruits and vegetables, not too careful observance of the rules of storage or sanitary and hygienic processing of products – all this can lead to intestinal upset, and as a result – to headaches. Therefore, pay close attention to what you eat. Especially if these are gifts of nature. And in local stores, always pay attention to the expiration date.

5. Inconvenient posture

Often we spend all day at the dacha, bending upside down over the garden. In this case, an overload of the vessels of the brain occurs, which is why the head hurts. But be careful: this situation is fraught with fainting, increased blood pressure, and in some cases even a stroke. Take care of yourself: Try squatting or on a small bench. And always in a sparing mode.

– Air supersaturation, in particular, an increased amount of oxygen is called hyperoxia. The same sensations can occur with frequent and deep breathing and during physical exertion. This is what we do outside the city: fixing the roof, digging a vegetable garden and chopping wood. Hence, we also get muscle fatigue, which aggravates the “poisoning” with fresh air. At first, the muscles require large quantities of oxygen, and after a day or two, this shock load results in an increase in the blood breakdown products of carbohydrates – lactic acid. It can also cause headaches. And, of course, kebabs and alcohol, after which there is a hangover and a feeling of overeating, cannot pass without a trace.
