We will not discuss the economic side of the issue and the fact that vouchers to warm countries sold like hot cakes, but we will touch on the topic of how to make sure that in the cold winter period you want to run not somewhere, but home.
Lack of light, greenery and warmth can drive anyone into depression. To cope with bad moods and make up for the lack of sunlight, you can change your interior, and you will find that you want to spend much more time at home.
1. Perform a general cleaning of the apartment. Take a critical look at your apartment and think, perhaps, somewhere has accumulated rubbish that needs to be disposed of. Revisit your wardrobe and remove items that have become unusable or simply no longer enjoyable. Be sure to wash the windows. This will help let in the sunlight, and you will see how much brighter and more positive your surroundings become.
2. Change the color of the walls and curtains. Surprisingly, light walls (ideally white) can transform a space beyond recognition. A creamy or beige shade will make the room warmer and help you tune in the right way. But don’t forget about bright accents. For example, you can paint the door trims red or orange. This will invigorate and make the interior dynamic. As for the curtains, the curtains must be fully pulled apart to let in more daylight. If the idea of completely abandoning curtains and exposing the window is not about you, then get translucent curtains that also let in light and allow you to get rid of prying eyes.
3. Get rid of the old wall (furniture). Dark bulky cabinets make any room gloomy, and even in small apartments (studios) they generally look ridiculous. Therefore, they can be replaced with lighter models made of light wood – this is both fashionable and makes up for the lack of light.
4. Add mirrors and metal structures. The mirror is able to visually expand the space and let additional light into the room. But metal structures and shiny accessories (everything from which the light will be reflected) can not only transform the interior, but also add a little shine and shine, which in cold weather will be very useful.
5. Do not forget about bright accessories and textiles. In order not to make your apartment look like an office, it is better to dilute light walls, furniture and shiny surfaces with bright accents. Paintings, vases, textiles, pillows and other decorative elements made in red, orange or green shades will be an excellent color scheme, dilute the monochrome interior and relieve depression.
6. Get plenty of indoor plants. Green houseplants will help transform any interior. Especially in winter, when there is no greenery around and is not expected, indoor plants will add colors and positiveness. But remember that green pets need to be cared for properly. And if you suddenly decide to have orchids, poinsettia, cyclamen or azalea, then read in advance how to properly water and nourish these capricious flowers. But in the end, your efforts will pay off, and you will have a real blooming garden at home.
