Hair sticking out of the nose is the bane of many people — especially men. Hair in this place disturbs the aesthetics of the face, so few people consider it a reason to be proud. However, doctors warn that removing nasal hair can have very unpleasant consequences and even lead to death.
- The hair in the nose is used for “natural filtration of larger particles” and protects the body against the penetration of dangerous bacteria
- The nose is in the “triangle of death”, the part of the face most susceptible to infection
- Hair removal from the nose can lead to meningitis, brain abscesses, and even death

Many people who suffer from the problem of hair sticking out of the nose decide to remove it. Some of them use small electric nose trimmers for this, which can also help remove hair from the ears. Others trim their hair with regular nail scissors. There are also people who nibble them using, for example, tweezers.
According to specialists, these are wrong actions that can end very badly. The reason is that there is an increased risk of penetration of dangerous germs into the body.
Bacteria shield
Erich Voigt, an American ENT specialist from New York University, warns about the possible consequences of pulling hair out of the nose. In a statement for Business Insider, he said: «Who removes hair from the nose risks losing health».
The scientist explains that the hair in the nasal cavity serves to “naturally filter larger particles”. Therefore, as hair is removed, the possibility of small foreign bodies entering the lungs increases. However, this is not the only reason to give up such depilation.
Dangerous bacteria that are already in the hair
Another problem can be disturbance of the hair follicles, which are the narrow tubes in the skin from which hair grows. They are a natural environment for germs that penetrate the body much more easily during epilation. As Voigt says — “These are very dangerous situations that can lead to meningitis, brain abscesses and even death”. The expert explains that it is related to the peculiarities of the circulatory system in this part of the face (called the “triangle of death”) which is particularly prone to infections. This area has a characteristic venous vascularization that penetrates directly into the brain.
To prevent serious complications, simply do not remove nose hair.
