The benefits of mushrooms

Mushrooms represent a whole biological species. They are actively included in recipes. Also, mushrooms are used for the manufacture of various medicines, since they are a storehouse of useful substances. Many people eat mushrooms every day. Vegetarians are especially fond of them, because some types of mushrooms taste very much like meat. No wonder they were given the name “forest meat”.

Scientific research is regularly carried out on mushrooms. And every time they find new useful properties. According to biologists, they contain the same amount of minerals as fruits. And in terms of carbohydrates, they can be compared with vegetables. There is even more protein in mushrooms that a person needs than in meat. That is why those who, for whatever reason, do not consume this product, mushrooms should become a regular in the daily diet.

All the necessary nutrients are harmoniously balanced in mushrooms: proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, microelements. And the main component of this unique product is water (about 90% of the total composition), thanks to which dishes from it are obtained dietary, low-calorie. Such food is easily absorbed by the body.

Mushrooms ideally combine unique protein compounds, about 20 amino acids (such as arginine, leucine, glutamine, tyrosine, etc.). All of them bring irreplaceable benefits to the body. Only 100 g of mushrooms contains about 4 grams of protein, carbohydrates – about 3 grams, fat – 1,3 grams. The latter are worth mentioning separately. The most useful among fats are glycerides of fatty acids, lecithin, unsaturated fatty acids (for example, stearic, butyric, palmitic). And if the mushrooms are dried, then the amount of protein in them can be significantly increased.

Mushrooms are no less useful in terms of their vitamin content. They contain vitamins A, group B (1, 2, 3, 6, 9), D, E, PP. They have a good effect on the nervous system of the body, blood vessels, and improve blood formation. Regularly eating them, after a short time, an improvement in the condition of the skin, hair, nails can be noted. There is an opinion that in terms of the amount of B vitamins, mushrooms even surpass vegetables and cereals.

Thanks to their microelements (including phosphorus, copper, potassium, calcium, zinc, manganese, sulfur), mushrooms improve the functioning of the cardiovascular system and myocardium. People prone to heart disease are advised to eat mushrooms as a preventive measure. They are also effective in lowering blood cholesterol levels. Zinc and copper have a beneficial effect on metabolism, hormone production. Just like vitamins, they contribute to better blood formation.

In addition to the above, mushrooms contain beta-glucans, which are able to improve immunity, and most importantly, they stop the formation of cancerous tumors. Melanin is a powerful natural antioxidant that also makes a valuable contribution to a healthy body.

The risk of eating mushrooms

Unfortunately, with all the benefits of the component composition of mushrooms, their misuse can lead to tragic consequences. So, there are certain types of mushrooms that contain poisons, and their ingestion can even lead to death. Based on this, before going into the forest for mushrooms yourself, you should carefully study the information about them. It is safer to purchase this product from a store where they are thoroughly tested. But here you need to carefully look at the expiration date, since old wormy mushrooms are no less dangerous than poisonous ones.

Also, when using mushrooms, for all their benefits, do not forget about the sense of proportion. They contain a special protein chitin, which is very poorly processed by the body, and its excess can cause irreversible disruption of its functions.
