Why is there dangerously high atmospheric pressure: a record has been set in Moscow – the highest pressure in 55 years

A number of weather services reported that record temperature drops were recorded in Moscow.

After several weeks of heat above 30 degrees, forecasters promise that a cold front will come to the capital and the Moscow summer will turn into autumn with rains. While we wait for a refreshing coolness, mobile weather services eerily announce that the city has set a record that has not been recorded for 55 years. Namely, the atmospheric pressure is 755 mm Hg, which is simply nonsense for the end of June.

Should we be afraid of these numbers and how the pressure affects us, the editorial staff of Wday.ru found out from an expert.

– Normal atmospheric pressure is 760 mm Hg. Art., – says the candidate of medical sciences, therapist, cardiologist of the medical center “Atlas” Maria Kirillova. – A change in atmospheric pressure serves as a stress factor for healthy individuals and provokes an exacerbation of existing pathologies. It was found that in women, the response is more pronounced than in men. There is evidence that about a third of men and almost half of women are sensitive to changes in weather conditions. A decrease in atmospheric pressure is felt by people with low blood pressure. More often there is weakness, a feeling of lack of air. Also sensitive people who have increased intracranial pressure, may worsen the course of migraine. The main signs of pressure changes are headache, weakness, daytime sleepiness, a feeling of heaviness, pallor of the skin, palpitations. Increased sweating is less common. According to statistics, during periods of surges in atmospheric pressure, a greater number of hospitalizations are recorded (for example, in the summer of 2010). If you feel a change in your condition, take the prescribed medication. If there is no improvement, be sure to call a doctor or ambulance. On such days, it is recommended to cancel all loads, meetings, long trips, flights.

As for the current figures (755 mm Hg), the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia told Wday.ru that there is nothing to worry about and these figures cannot be called record.
