Why is the washing machine not drying clothes?

The drying function is no longer such a rare and newfangled option; today it can be found in every modern and expensive car. Everything would be fine, but these are additional parts, sensors and wires, which means additional breakdowns.

Drying in washer-dryers can break down, and this usually manifests itself as follows:

  • The washing machine does not dry clothes, the process does not start.
  • The mode is interrupted, drying stops.
  • The program is running, the countdown is running, and the laundry is damp or even damp.

If the dryer does not work in the machine, this can often not be associated with a breakdown of the equipment itself. Therefore, it is worth understanding how drying works in order to determine the cause of breakdowns.

How does a washing machine dry clothes?

In order for things to remain dry after washing, a heating element is provided in such SMAs. No, this is not the heating element that heats water for high-temperature washing. The design of the machine has a second heater that warms the air, due to which moisture evaporates from the laundry.

This is a little expensive in terms of energy consumption, but extremely convenient for those who save their time, not money.

Why is the dryer not working in the washing machine

Consider the main reasons why laundry does not dry. You can also find troubleshooting steps in the table below.

Drying does not start

You may have selected a wash cycle that does not dry. Run drying separately from washing.

Another reason is too much laundry in the drum. For example, with a maximum allowable laundry weight of 6 kg, CMA can dry half as much. A full drum load is always dried in 2-3 passes. If you turn on the dry mode separately, it will not start, especially if your washer model has a laundry weighing function.

To solve the problem, dry the laundry by dividing it into batches.

Another option: blockage in the “garbage” filter. If the pump cannot pump water for this reason, the program will not start. Power off the machine, disconnect it from communications. Place a cloth or container under the plinth, remove it and unscrew the filter. Clean and rinse, screw back.

The drying program does not start separately

Cause: The sunroof was not closed tightly. Check the tightness of the door. If the UBL is broken or something prevents the door from closing, this should be accompanied by an appropriate error code on the electronic scoreboard.

Replace the UBL yourself or contact the service.

Laundry does not dry well, after drying there is a lot of moisture

Reason: things were not pressed well enough. In order for the drying mode to work “in good faith”, the machine must wring out at the highest speed. For this:

  • At standard 600-800 revolutions for the selected washing cycle, set the re-spin to the maximum (1000-1200); turn on dry mode.
  • After hand washing, spin items at high speed before drying.
  • For highly absorbent laundry such as terry towels or bathrobes, run another spin cycle.

Other options:

  1. The drum contained many layers of laundry (duvet covers, jackets, lined items, etc.). Choose the longest drying mode, if necessary, run it several times.
  2. You have chosen the “under the iron” or “easy iron” mode – in this case, the smart technology itself does not dry things out so that they can be ironed better. If you did not plan to iron your laundry, restart the normal mode by deactivating the option that makes ironing easier.
  3. The program does not match the type of laundry. Choose the optimal mode.
  4. Increased humidity and air temperature in the room where your CM is located. Provide proper operating conditions.
  5. There is not enough voltage in the network. In this case, the heating element will not turn on or will operate at low power, so the laundry will remain damp. Provide the washing machine with an individual wiring line with a good outlet. Do not use extension cords, as they lose power to the appliance.

Laundry dries for a long time, does not dry completely

The air filter is clogged. Look at the instructions and find the location of the filter. Remove it and clean it of threads, lint and other blockages.

The program does not start or stops prematurely

Even if the program ends, the drying quality is poor.

The faucet supplying water to the machine is closed. Some models need it to cool the condensate, in others, the drum is cleaned with water. If you have a good habit of turning off the water supply, don’t get rid of it. Just learn to close the faucet after using the SM, not before.

If none of the above helps, only then can we talk about a breakdown. Most often, the program does not work because the following nodes are out of order:

  • TEN. It cannot be repaired, only replacement of the part will help here.
  • Thermostat (temperature sensor). Also needs to be replaced.
  • Fan. In this case, cleaning or lubricating the bearing may help. But in the event of a burnout of the motor that rotates the fan blades, you will have to change the part.
  • Broken or broken wiring. It is necessary to carry out maintenance: replace damaged areas, check contacts.
  • Blockage in the drying duct.
  • Clogged water drain hose from the condensate tank.
  • Controller failure. Firmware or replacement required.
  • Blockage or violation of the integrity of the drain circuit.
  • Failure in the filling system (clogging of the filling filter, breakdown of the solenoid valve, filling pipe, and so on). Inspection and restoration of the filling system is required.

Now you know why your machine does not dry clothes well. As you can see, often the fault is not a breakdown, but external factors and non-compliance with the rules of operation.

Be careful while using the washer, and it will thank you with smooth operation and laundry without a drop of excess moisture.
