Despite all the «popularity» of various psychiatric diagnoses, which today has become something of a fashion trend, few people would like to be called a schizophrenic. First of all, because of the long-term taboo of this particular disease both in Russia and in the West. However, there is nothing surprising in this attitude towards this disease. First of all, the point here is the incurability of the disease. If it is difficult to cope with the same OCD, but it is possible. And people who flaunt their unusualness can be declared recovered, as soon as they get tired of playing «not like everyone else», then it will be almost impossible to get rid of the stigma of a schizophrenic.
Due to the severity of the diagnosis and the unpredictability of the course of the disease, people with schizophrenia have to face very significant limitations. For example, they cannot drive vehicles, own weapons, hold responsible positions and positions … You might think that schizophrenia is not just a disease, but a real life sentence. However, do not despair!
All is not gold that glitters
Before you give up after hearing the diagnosis, it is worthwhile to properly study all aspects of this disease. Despite a very wide range of observables and a long time of study, scientists have not come close to unraveling the origin and development of schizophrenia. All these moments are often spontaneous and situational.
In addition, schizophrenia, like a disease, consists of dozens of symptoms. Some of them are able to quickly lead a person to disability, while the other will only slightly burden the patient’s existence, occasionally reminding himself of himself with mild attacks.
By the way, a rather impartial definition of this disease — “garbage of diagnoses” — was given to schizophrenia not by anyone, but by psychiatric theorists respected in scientific circles, as well as by those who in practice daily face such a difficult disease, which, according to the latest data on the planet, suffers at least 1% of the population, and this, for a moment, is 76 million people! The population of a medium-sized country!
Symptoms of schizophrenia
Thanks to cinematography, any «sofa psychiatrist» can easily diagnose schizophrenia based on one of the most obvious and popularized symptoms — the presence of delirium, dream visions, hallucinations and reasoning that contradicts logic. And, in principle, it is really difficult to make a mistake in this case. But there are also less obvious signs of the disease, which an unprepared person has not even heard of, and if he heard, he did not understand:
- sudden depression, increased withdrawal and alienation is one of the extremes with schizophrenia. This phase of development almost all illnesses holders of the diagnosis.
- Rђ RІRѕS, schizophrenics are not aggressive more than the average mentally healthy person. frightening statistics that could radically change the attitude of society towards the complex diagnosis is not available. There is an assumption that it simply does not exist.
- masquerading under hormonal bursts primary seizures most often occur in adolescence, then the person can return to normal condition and be quite successful … until the next attack.
The interpenetration of delirium into reality. A couple of hundred years ago, it was considered a reason to lock a person for life in a hospital, today it is a common symptom of a disease that is difficult, but possible to live and fight. However, despite the apparent ease of diagnosis, long-term monitoring of patients and the study of the course of schizophrenia confuse professional physicians. And above all, the fact that the disease is a huge number of combinations of different symptoms. So extensive that each specific case of the disease has to be considered only partly based on the information that is reliable and available at the moment.
