Boys and girls are more different than you think. And the first differences appear even before birth.
Some are sure that pregnancy with a boy or girl can be determined even by the shape of the abdomen. Doctors believe that this is a myth, but it does not become less tenacious. However, there are many signs that indirectly indicate the sex of the unborn baby. After all, future sons show character even before birth. Mom often has a hard time, and here’s why.
1. Higher risk of getting sick
Not only the future baby depends on the mother, her well-being also depends on him. Babies in the womb sleep, eat, produce waste. Among the latter are substances that can provoke the development of inflammation in the mother’s body. And the boys are ahead of the girls: inflammation in women who are carrying sons occurs more often than in mothers of daughters.
2. Higher risk of fetal developmental abnormalities
This is inherent in nature. Evolution experiments more often on boys. In girls, genetic abnormalities and mutations are less common, as well as congenital defects such as hernia, dislocations, deafness, strabismus, speech disorders. Girls consolidate useful functions that are inherited. And on boys, nature tests these very functions, and not always a new sign turns out to be useful, writes
3. Higher risk of complications during childbirth
Experts say that boys are more fragile creatures, defenseless against external influences. Their pain threshold is lower, girls cope with pain better. Therefore, the process of childbirth, which in itself is quite traumatic for both mother and child, boys endure worse. By the way, boys, contrary to stereotypes, are emotionally more sensitive and anxious than girls.
4. Boys are usually larger
The average height of a boy at birth is 50-52 cm, for a girl – from 49 to 51 cm. Accordingly, the weight is greater. And the larger the fetus, the more difficult it is to give birth, the higher the risk of rupture. The likelihood of an emergency caesarean section is also higher if a boy is born. Scientists at Cambridge University found this out.
5. Higher risk of neurological disorders
Statistics claim that boys are more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD – attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The root of the problem here lies in the peculiarities of the intrauterine development of the fetus. During pregnancy, a very important substance is produced – sperm. If its concentration is too low, then the risk of abnormal development of the fetus, neurological abnormalities in the baby increases. And most often the sperm level drops if a woman is wearing a boy. In the case of a girl’s pregnancy, the level of this substance, on the contrary, can go off scale, and then there is a risk of developing preeclampsia, one of the most dangerous complications during pregnancy.
