Any clothing needs proper and regular care. Dealing with dirt can be problematic, especially if it is white things. Experienced housewives often approach the problem in a non-standard way: they put aspirin in the washing machine, and sometimes even use regular shaving cream.
It would seem that what can unite these funds and care for things? The author of the video on the Bright Side channel tells why and how to use them for washing clothes.
Why wash with aspirin
Many people refuse to wear white clothes (well, maybe “on holidays”), because they get dirty quickly, which means they have to be washed more often.
From frequent washing, white becomes gray or yellow over time. With small pollution, the automatic machine is quite capable of coping. But with yellowness from sweat under the arms or on the collars of your favorite shirts, she cannot do without special chemical bleaches.
That’s when the active search for an effective remedy begins. Many people are surprised when they find reviews on laundry care websites about using regular aspirin.
It costs a penny, and the benefits from it are sometimes greater than from the most expensive powder.
Acetylsalicylic (or salicylic) acid is the main active substance in its composition. It is able to penetrate deep into the fibers of the fabric, removing traces of sweat, blood and other dirt. It is very effective to use the product as a bleach.
Do not be afraid to ruin your clothes with it, because it acts exclusively on pollution, keeping the structure of the fabric itself unchanged.
How many tablets do you need
Since acetylsalicylic acid is absolutely harmless, there is no need to worry about a possible overdose.
It is better to put more tablets in the solution, otherwise a snow-white color may not be achieved. The author suggests the following proportion: 10 pieces of 325 grams per 4 liters of hot water. So that they dissolve faster and begin to act, it is better to grind them first.
How to wash with salicylic acid
There are two options for using miracle pills:
- for bleaching with pre-soaking;
- to remove minor stains or refresh color.
We will tell you in detail how to use them specifically.
First option
If only one name remains from a white T-shirt, then it will not be possible to bleach it without pre-soaking.
Proceed as follows:
- Put the product in a bowl (or any other container).
- Fill it with hot water.
- Add crushed salicylic acid. Leave to soak for 6-8 hours (preferably overnight).
- Put the prepared laundry in the drum of the washing machine and wash it on a normal cycle (depending on the type of fabric).
If you need to remove a blood stain, the solution should be prepared exclusively in cold water.
At high temperatures, the blood will penetrate even deeper into the fibers. Then getting rid of it will be almost impossible.
The second option
This method will take much less time, but it will not work to remove old stains the first time. It will be more effective to use it to remove fresh contaminants.
It is enough to throw the crushed product into the drum of the washing machine to the loaded things and wash them on any program.
Drop the aspirin directly into the drum itself, not into the powder flask. So the substance will begin to act faster and more actively.
Shaving cream for traces of makeup
The traces left foundation or lipstick can ruin your favorite T-shirt forever. Shaving foam will help to deal with them (especially if they are fresh), as it is an effective stain remover.
Glycerin, alkalis and surfactants in its composition remove traces not only from cosmetics, but also from fat.
How to use shaving foam:
- Blot the stain with a paper towel after wetting it with water.
- Apply a small amount of foam.
- Place the foam-treated laundry in the washing machine and launder.
Now that a couple of simple but useful ways for washing have appeared in your “arsenal”, you can safely replenish your wardrobe with new snow-white things.
