Causes of a sharp darkening in the eyes and dizziness
Natalya Akhtyamova, an anesthesiologist of the Frau Klinik of the highest category, spoke about the possible reasons for this condition on Wday.
“Dizziness and darkening of the eyes is due to the occurrence of brain anoxia, that is, oxygen is not supplied to the brain, says Natalya Akhtyamova. – This happens because the position of the body and the pressure in the vessels change dramatically, which, in turn, leads to a decrease in blood pressure. Therefore, the blood does not reach the brain. Very sensitive areas are the optic nerves and the part of the brain that is responsible for vision. Therefore, it darkens in the eyes and even a short-term loss of consciousness.
It can also be caused by a problem with pressure: at very high pressure, sometimes darkening of the eyes occurs. But here the source of this condition is vasospasm. This is the same anoxia of the brain (when the blood does not reach it), but with a different root cause. “
Other reasons are called:
emotional stress or constant stress;
large physical exertion;
deficiency of vitamins and nutrients, diet;
an increased level of hemoglobin in the blood;
endocrine system diseases (for example, diabetes mellitus);
pregnancy;
dehydration;
overwork;
inflammatory processes in the brain;
stay on top.
Also, darkening in the eyes and dizziness can be side symptoms of vasodilators and diuretics, as well as antidepressants.
Note that only a doctor will be able to identify the cause and make a diagnosis after a series of examinations. Therefore, with the frequent occurrence of the described symptoms, it is necessary to consult a qualified specialist in order to exclude the possibility of serious diseases.
