Reducing at least a few centimeters at the waist is one of the most pressing female problems, especially on the eve of the beach season. But no matter how zealous we are, experiencing all sorts of ways to lose weight, the weight goes away slowly, and often returns in even greater volume.
Men are happier than women in this regard. As practice shows, they lose weight much faster than us with the same diet and approximately the same loads. Why nature is so unfair to women and how to correct these mistakes, Woman’s Day finds out.
It’s all about the muscles. The secret of male slenderness is that the stronger sex has much more muscle mass than women. But it is in the muscles that the main burning of excess calories occurs, which are transformed into fats and are deposited on the hips, abdomen, chest, etc. Moreover, the older we get, the more intensively fat displaces muscle mass, and therefore, the process of losing weight also slows down.
Build muscle – fat burning factory! And this requires strength training. Swimming and walking are very beneficial for your health, but they are ineffective for losing weight. Therefore, you need to be patient, arm yourself with sports equipment (dumbbells, for example) and devote at least 30 minutes to strength training every day.
The second culprit for delayed weight loss of the weaker sex is the female hormone estrogen. It is so laid down by nature that genetically in women, fat is deposited most of all on the hips, buttocks, and breasts. And this very estrogen slows down the expenditure of fats, prevents them from burning.
One of the most effective ways to combat fats in this case is to include cruciferous vegetables, primarily white cabbage, in the daily menu. True, you will have to eat a lot of it – one kilogram per day, but this will not harm the family budget, since this vegetable is one of the cheapest. It is better to eat cabbage raw: with the current abundance of seasonings and spices, cabbage salad can be different each time, depending on what season it is. And for the intestines, cabbage is a solid holiday due to its high fiber content. By the way, some of the cabbage can be replaced by its closest relative – turnips.
For those who are not able to consume such an amount of cabbage every day, fasting days can be arranged.
In women, the feeling of satiety comes with some delay – they are satiated more slowly than men. And the reason for this is another “harmful” hormone – ghrelin. It is responsible for the feeling of hunger, and the level of this hormone in women is higher than in men. That is why in the weaker sex the feeling of hunger comes faster than in the strong. Moreover, this “ghrelinic” hunger requires something sweet, and these are light carbohydrates, which, in excess, very quickly turn into the hated fat.
Reduce the level of ghrelin, and therefore, kill the feeling of hunger. To do this, you need to drink a glass of water every hour. A full stomach, even with calorie-free water, is easier to tolerate the feeling of hunger, and the level of the “harmful” hunger hormone does not increase and the desire to have a snack is easier to drown out at all costs.
