A new study from the University of London has shown that over the past 30 years actually we eat less calories, and the percentage of overweight and obese people does not decrease. How it’s possible? It turned out that in tandem with an average 20% decrease in calories consumed, energy expenditure also decreased.
We are much more comfortable. Research has shown that both men and women are less likely to work in more severe conditions than in the past. The type of job responsibilities is very important because we spend a large part of the day there. If we devote it to sitting at the desk, it will be difficult to make up for it in the later hours, especially since the attitude towards rest after work has also changed. Although the fashion for jogging, gyms, etc. is doing well, research has shown that both men and women spend more time watching TV and commuting to work by public transport or by car.
It turns out that you cannot focus on just one factor that influences your body weight. Both the caloric content of the diet and the degree of physical activity are important in slowing down the obesity epidemic. And we should focus on such education. It’s a success anyway that we started paying attention to what we eat, now it’s time to understand that physical activity is just as important, especially if at work our only move is going to the toilet and having tea.
So it is worth spending time on exercise every day, it is best to combine it with time devoted to the family. It can be a simple, quick walk or, if we feel like, a swimming pool or a bike ride. It is important not to sit down in front of the TV or computer after lunch. Our trainer Damian Jefremienko wrote about why it is worth to include physical activity during weight loss.
The above recommendations are important because overweight and obesity wreak havoc. Obesity is considered to be the basic risk factor for many chronic diseases and premature death. Overweight and obesity can be safely called the epidemic of the 2008st century. In 1,4, over 35 billion people in the world, or 200 percent. of the population was characterized by excess body weight. Of these, more than 300 million men and nearly 11 million women were obese, which in total accounted for 25%. of all people in the world. So far, the upward trend has continued, and the number of people with excess body weight has been systematically increasing. GUS data show that every second person in Poland has a BMI higher than XNUMX.
