Reading time – 3 minutes.

Squid is a fairly inexpensive and very healthy product that is great for salads and hot dishes. Usually, for any recipes, squids need to be thawed and cooked in this form – the method of cooking squids is extremely simple, a violation of the technology is unlikely even if you are a beginner. But this is where an incident can happen – boiled squid can smell unpleasantly of ammonia or ammonia. Ammonia is a cheap way to extend the shelf life of squid on an industrial scale. Also, the ammonia smell manifests itself if the squid were grown in an environmentally unfriendly place, and technological processes were violated during processing. In any case, there may be too much ammonia and such a product should never be eaten. As a quick way to steer the situation: buy a can of canned squid instead of questionable seafood.
