Why do doctors advise not to drink pills, but to take injections

And all because of the rate at which the active substance enters the body.

– The form of administration of the drug affects only the rate of absorption. Injections reach their destination faster and in more precise quantities. The drug immediately enters the bloodstream and begins to work, while in tablet form it first passes through the gastrointestinal tract, the effect has to wait longer.

At the same time, injections can be very painful and accompanied by complications. Sometimes at the injection site, especially if the procedure was carried out repeatedly, a seal appears – an infiltration. Later, it either dissolves on its own, or turns into purulent inflammation. An abscess cannot be treated on its own, this is the task of the surgeon. If the lump constantly reminds of itself, edema has formed, the temperature has risen, you should consult a doctor.

In the old-fashioned way

The pills do the job just as well as the injections. If the doctor advised you to do injections, and you are afraid of them, you can ask if you can choose another form of drug administration. The verdict will depend on the severity of your condition. For example, if your neck has blown and you are going to carry the disease on your legs, it is better to take a short course of injections. You will recover faster and cause less damage to the stomach lining. Is there an opportunity to lie down? You can take pills. Remember: they are washed down only with clean water at room temperature. Carbonated drinks promote vasodilation of the gastrointestinal mucosa and increase the irritating effect of drugs. Do you need to dissolve the medicine? After taking it, stop drinking and heavy food for a while. Even if you have not completed the entire course, and the improvement has already come, in no case do not stop the treatment.

There is no way without injections

There are situations where injections cannot be avoided. For example, in severe emergency conditions, as well as in cases when the patient is unconscious or for some reason cannot swallow the pill. It also happens that a medicine exists only in the form of an injection solution. In addition, injections, suppositories and syrups are preferable for any diseases of the gastrointestinal tract – ulcers, gastritis, cholecystitis, liver cirrhosis.

Parents to note

It is better for children to give drugs in the form of a suspension, syrup, tablets. The injections are not only painful, but also stressful for the child. If you are allergic to glucose, syrups are contraindicated.

Who is the fastest:

1st place – intravenous injections;

2nd place – intramuscular;

3rd place – inhalations and suppositories;

4th place – tablets, syrups, suspensions.
