German and British scientists have found a threat to humans in the washing machine, more precisely in the “Eco” mode. As you know, “eco-washing” or “eco-mode” allows users to wash things as quickly as possible by reducing the cycle time or lowering the water temperature (depending on the functionality of the washer itself). But scientists argue that it is unsafe for health. How do they justify this?
It turns out that not so long ago, in one of the medical institutions, scientists accidentally stumbled upon an unpleasant find: Klebsiella oxytoca bacteria were found in a powder cuvette and on the hatch cuff. Scientists have said that these bacteria can cause many serious diseases, such as colitis, problems with the urinary tract, and even damage to the oral mucosa.
In the course of the research, scientists found that the health workers of the institution washed clothes in the “Eco” mode with minimal water heating. Of course, many bacteria, including the dangerous Klebsiella oxytoca, remained absolutely invulnerable and calmly “survived” after washing.
How the medical staff could have made such a mistake is beyond me. After all, even people without a medical education know that bacteria die at the highest possible temperatures or, conversely, at low ones.
To everyone who prefers economical washing modes, scientists strongly recommend not to abuse them. And it is better to wash bed and underwear in a mode that involves heating water at least 90 degrees. This is the only way to protect yourself and your loved ones from possible dangerous bacteria.
