It turns out that there is an old and very unpleasant explanation for this prohibition.
There are not so many topics as shrouded in superstition as pregnancy, childbirth and children’s health. There is, for example, a sign that pregnant women should not knit and wring out their underwear with their hands. And babies should not be shown a mirror and take pictures while he sleeps. Some of these things have a reasonable explanation, some do not. And something is half explained, like the ban on one shoe.
An old omen says that walking in one shoe means becoming an orphan early. It turns out that if your baby, playing, runs in one sandal or sneaker, you or your spouse are in danger of imminent death. And that is not all. The sign prohibits walking not only in one shoe, but also in one sock or stocking. Superstition says that it is impossible to separate paired pieces of clothing: if this happens, the couple that gave birth to a child who allowed himself to indulge in this way will break up. That is, at best, a divorce awaits you. At worst, the death of one of the spouses. After all, you remember the marriage admonition: live happily ever after until death do you part.
It turns out that such a sign is pure superstition? It turns out that there is a rational grain, albeit tiny, in it. And it’s not even about orthopedic problems that a baby can get by hobbling in one shoe: in order for this to affect health, you need to walk like this for a long time and regularly. And the fact that in one shoe it is very easy to stumble and fall. As for one sock, there are no problems here. If you like it, let it go. Unless one leg freezes.
