Whooping cough – Our doctor’s opinion
As part of its quality approach, Passeportsanté.net invites you to discover the opinion of a health professional. Dr Jacques Allard, general practitioner, gives you his opinion on the whooping cough :
Whooping cough is an extremely contagious disease whose incidence has dropped drastically thanks to vaccination. However, even though ten times fewer people have it, cyclical epidemics of pertussis occur in children aged 2 to 5 in developed countries. It is therefore important that adolescents and adults are up to date with their vaccination because they can infect the youngest who are also the most vulnerable to this disease. If you or your child suffer from strong and prolonged coughing fits accompanied by vomiting, a face that turns red or blue, or a high-pitched wheezing on inspiration (cock crow), do not hesitate to see your doctor promptly. . Treatment of whooping cough with antibiotics is very effective. Dr Jacques Allard M.D. FCMFC |
