Who shouldn’t change themselves: what beauty procedures are fraught with

Women are so arranged that we want to constantly improve our appearance, rejuvenate, prettier and hear compliments from others. Nevertheless, many procedures aimed at correcting problems and improving appearance have a number of contraindications that you need to know in order to avoid serious problems in the future.

In general, in medicine, all contraindications are divided into absolute and relative. Absolute contraindications are persistent prohibitions, which in many cases cannot be canceled until the end of life and which can become a threat to the patient’s life. This includes various chronic diseases, blood diseases, heart problems, and oncology. Relative contraindications are temporary. They appear in certain patient conditions such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, viral infections, high fever flu, seasonal allergies, and so on. Actually, relative contraindications disappear when the problem is eliminated. Dermatologist-cosmetologist Ksenia Vedischeva will tell you what are the contraindications for the most common cosmetic procedures.

Botox Is the name of the most famous drug containing botulinum toxin. The market also uses Dysport and Xeomin, which have a similar effect. Botulinum toxin injections are a very effective procedure aimed at solving many problems – from wrinkles to hyperhidrosis. Who shouldn’t be given this “beauty shot”?

· Absolute contraindications here are all blood diseases that are associated with its poor coagulability – leukemia, hemophilia and others. Because in this case, after the injection, there is a risk of not stopping the blood, which will carry the injected drug with it, and the injection will become simply useless.

Since injections of botulinum toxin are aimed at blocking neuromuscular transmission, they also cannot be done for neuromuscular diseases, of which there are many. These include neuropathies, paresis, myalgias, and so on.

· Serious endocrine disorders – various diseases of the thyroid gland and changes in hormonal balance. In this case, there is a strong risk of soft tissue prolapse, when the appearance is created that the skin has sagged. If you are the owner of thyroid problems, be sure to warn your beautician about this, because with these diseases you cannot work with Botox (but you can choose another effective procedure), because without knowing about the problem, it is very difficult to understand what happened and why the tissues sank.

· Relative contraindications for botulinum toxin injections are exacerbation of allergies, any acute viral processes, infectious inflammation at the injection site, pregnancy and lactation, high fever, violations of the integrity of the skin, PMS and the first days of the cycle (this can provoke the formation of hematomas).

· Botox is not recommended after plastic surgery during the first three months, as well as after deep chemical peelings and aggressive laser techniques, since during these periods the skin sensitivity increases due to its temporary thinning. Botox during these periods can provoke an allergic reaction, so it is advisable to abstain.

· There is also a small category of people (there are only 2-3%) who are generally not sensitive to botox. For some reason, their bodies have specific antibodies that interfere with the absorption of Botox, and it does not work on them.

Fillers, containing hyaluronic acid, have become a mandatory procedure for all cosmetologists without exception due to their action and the opportunities they give to change the contours of the face and fill in wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is a natural constituent of the human intercellular space. It is found in the connective tissue, skin (epithelium) and nerves of a person and is responsible for their elasticity. Unfortunately, over time, the natural production of this substance by the body decreases, and in order to “maintain” beauty, we inject hyaluronic acid into one or another area, if necessary, so-called hyaluronic fillers. Nevertheless, despite its naturalness and simplicity, this procedure has a number of contraindications.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding, since during this period the woman’s body is already sufficiently filled with hormones and due to this it is well filled with water, which means that there is a tendency to edema. Hyaluronic acid, due to its ability to retain water, will only provoke excessive puffiness, which will not add beauty to a woman.

· You cannot do the procedure for diseases of blood clotting, for the same indications as for botulinum toxin injections.

Inflammation at the injection site is also a contraindication.

· Diseases of an autoimmune nature, common to the whole organism.

· Exacerbation of herpes – this, first of all, directly concerns the introduction of an injection into the oral area. For the nasolacrimal sulcus – herpes is not a contraindication, however, I would recommend the patient to go through the phase of exacerbation of this disease and then inject the drug.

· An absolute contraindication for fillers is the presence of silicone or biopolymers in the filler placement area, as this will cause a large conflict between tissue components, because the body is trying to encapsulate the introduced synthetic fillers.

Golden threads – this is the reinforcement of the skin with very thin threads (thinner than a human hair) made of gold. Gold threads have one unpleasant feature that needs to be dwelt on. The fact is that gold threads do not dissolve! Of course, this is a very powerful rejuvenation procedure – a correctly executed frame, fixed tissues and collagen gradually growing on the threads give a total excellent lifting effect that lasts up to 10 years. But the patient cannot change his appearance during this period – to highlight the cheekbones or, conversely, to create swelling of the cheeks. The face freezes and remains constantly the same. Therefore, in my practice, I began to highlight the non-absorbability of threads as a contraindication for women who want to dynamically change in the future. I suggest that they pay attention to other bio-reinforcement procedures with absorbable threads, which, although gradually losing their effect, provide opportunities for changes.

· Absolute contraindications to the Golden Threads procedure are all the same blood diseases, oncology, diabetes mellitus, chronic heart diseases.

· Relative – pregnancy, breastfeeding, PMS and the first days of the cycle.

· An important contraindication is an allergy to gold. Before the procedure, it is necessary to do an analysis for an allergic reaction, since the implantation of 24-carat gold can provoke manifestations of a different nature, from hives to Quincke’s edema.

I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that after setting the threads, a large number of procedures that are associated with electricity drop out of care. These are all hardware techniques, since it is impossible to predict the reaction of the implanted gold – it can oxidize, blacken and stain tissues, and so on. All this you need to know before deciding on the procedure for reinforcing with gold threads.

Mesotherapy – a simple enough procedure to have a large number of contraindications. Nevertheless, they also exist. First of all, I would like to note various allergic manifestations due to the fact that meso cocktails contain a large amount of active substances. To avoid an allergic reaction, always carefully check with your doctor about all the components of the drug and tell in detail about a possible allergy to active substances.

· Of course, all the absolute contraindications typical for injection procedures – blood diseases, oncology and others – take place here.

· Acute viral and infectious diseases are relative contraindications.

· Mesotherapy is contraindicated in acute manifestations of herpes, since due to the large number of punctures there is a risk of spreading the infection.

· Tendency to scarring and colloidal scars. In this case, it is better to abandon mesotherapy altogether and choose a procedure that does not require a violation of the skin.

Low pain threshold is also a contraindication. It is better to find other methods here, since the course of mesotherapy consists of 5-10 procedures, carried out 1-2 times a week. and suffer from unbearable pain is useless.

Implants now on the cosmetology market there is a huge variety. The most common are pectorals, but there are already chins, cheekbones, buttocks, and so on. I will not repeat here the absolute contraindications that apply to most cosmetic procedures. I want to dwell on the features. If this is not reconstructive plastic after an illness, accident, or congenital asymmetries and deformities of the face and body, then I would say that the age of up to 30 years is a contraindication for the placement of implants! Accordingly, the lack of life experience and a stable, adequate attitude to one’s own appearance, since young girls with huge gluteal and breast implants are not even funny! The second serious contraindication I would call incompetent plastic surgeons and doctors who operate at home, install implants of dubious quality and do not give any guarantees. Such an operation can pose a serious threat to the patient’s life. Common sense and responsibility for one’s actions are very important here, which means a certain age and financial capabilities of the patient, because the operation in a proven clinic is by no means cheap.

During the tattoo all standard absolute and relative contraindications listed above are present (HIV, AIDS, mental disorders, epilepsy, diabetes mellitus, poor blood clotting, infectious diseases in the acute stage, and so on). I would like to draw your attention to the following contraindications.

· First of all, it is a tendency to keloid scars.

· For lips – herpes in the acute stage.

· For the eyes – various diseases of the conjunctiva, especially acute viral.

· Moles, papillomas, warts at the site of tattooing.

· If you are planning plastic surgery or contouring at the site of tattooing (blepharoplasty or changing the shape of the lips), then first do the plastic surgery, and then the correction with tattooing, and not vice versa.

· Do not make tattoo for persons under 18 years of age.

Removal of moles, tattoos, scars

All of the above contraindications (oncology, blood diseases, diabetes mellitus, chronic diseases, acute viral diseases, especially in the area of manipulation) remain. There are also features that the patient needs to be aware of.

· If you choose between surgical and laser methods of removing formations and scars, then I would recommend staying at the laser. A laser knife is much thinner in comparison with a scalpel, and hardware penetration is controlled down to a micron. In addition, the maximum soldering of the vessels occurs instantly, which guarantees the absence of any retractions, residual scars, pigmentation, and so on in the place of removal of the formation and tattoo.

· All moles must undergo a histological examination.

· When removing scars, the most important contraindication is the tendency to form colloids and poor blood clotting. Understand why you need to remove a scar if it can form again?

Removal of lumps of Bisha – These are quite dense fatty accumulations that form in the cheeks. By nature, they are designed to perform some important functions, one of them is to facilitate the process of sucking breast milk and the subsequent promotion of food in children. With age, they do not increase, and by about 25-30 years in the volume of the total mass around they become almost invisible. But if Bisha’s lumps are pronounced and heavy, then they create a rather voluminous round face and pull the skin behind them, which can provoke deep nasolabial folds.

All system-wide contraindications work here, such as blood diseases and oncology, diabetes mellitus and complex internal pathologies, but there are some peculiarities.

· Do not remove lumps of Bish for people under 25 years old, as this fat formation can naturally decrease by this age.

· This procedure is contraindicated for people with unstable weight. Due to the constant jumps in weight, the doctor will not be able to accurately determine. how much fat needs to be removed so that it is aesthetically pleasing.

· One more note: you need to weigh the pros and cons, since Bish’s lumps in the area where they are located are some foundation for nearby tissues, they support them at a certain level. Perhaps Bish’s lumps are possible. without removing, move it higher under the cheekbone, and this will create an additional beautiful high cheekbone and sunken cheeks. But it is a large, highly personalized consultation process with an intelligent, experienced and tasteful plastic surgeon.

Circular face lift Is a serious surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia, which requires both preparation with many tests and a rather long recovery period. There are many absolute contraindications, I will list them.

· Oncological diseases, infectious diseases (all types of hepatitis, HIV, AIDS), viral diseases in the acute stage.

· Diseases of the blood associated with clotting disorders.

· Diabetes mellitus and other diseases of the thyroid gland (goiter, hypo- and hyperthyroidism), hypertension of the 2nd and 3rd degree.

· Tendency to form keloids.

· Obesity of the 2nd and 3rd degree.

· The presence of autoimmune diseases that will interfere with the recovery process.

· Skin diseases associated with decreased elasticity of the skin, when the skin is like parchment and it is difficult to tighten it.

I would like to add that currently there are very few indications for a surgical facelift, since there are a huge number of methods on the cosmetology market aimed at skin rejuvenation, tissue lifting, and the formation of a dense collagen mesh. These are hardware techniques – ultrasonic, radio wave, and bio-reinforcement, and much more. Therefore, I would consider such a serious surgical intervention no earlier than 50-55 years.

Blepharoplasty – This is a very powerful procedure for rejuvenating the area around the eyes, which allows you to eliminate sagging eyelids, remove excess fat, remove wrinkles.

· All general contraindications for this procedure remain (oncology, diabetes, blood clotting, HIV, AIDS).

· Special attention should be paid to eye diseases (myopia, conjunctivitis, glaucoma, damage to the lacrimal ducts, etc.) associated with accommodation, and possible allergic manifestations in the eye area.

· For classical external blepharoplasty, there is an age restriction – this procedure is performed for women at least 35 years old. But with transconjunctival plasty, which removes internal hernias and fatty formations, there are no age restrictions, because such a problem can bother a girl even at 18-20 years old.

· Pregnancy and breastfeeding are also contraindications, since anesthesia is used, as well as operational stress, which can negatively affect the fetus, the further development of pregnancy or lactation.

· A conditional contraindication for blepharoplasty is frequent edema of unknown origin. Before the operation, I advise such patients to figure out what is the reason for edema, eliminate this problem, and only then think about blepharoplasty.
