How to lose weight bypassing fashion and authorities? Coach Leonid Krol listened to himself, got up on both legs — and suddenly wished to become light, mobile and strange. For this, he was ready, like Alice, to fall into the hole after the white rabbit. Details of the experiment on yourself.

The other day I sadly looked at myself in the mirror, and from the depths of my sluggish soul in the morning a question surfaced: “Am I an eating creature or do I have a will?” A mirror is a good object, so that, looking into it, habitually turn away from what you do not want to see. But then I decided to take on myself as a professional. In the end, judging by the number of advertisements calling for coaching, only I remained not involved in this universal educational process. It is necessary to scrape through the bottom of the barrel, tired of Kolobok running from himself.

Deciding that all was not lost and that the day promised to be interesting, I tried to get down to business as soon as possible, first trying to get permission from myself to reduce my exercises. It was another cunning trick, because charging is actually extremely short, and it will not be charging at all. There are a lot of diets around, advice on how to behave, studies about the usefulness and harm of everything in the world, and promises of happiness and vigor if we join the right guru. Suspecting that chasing fashion in my case is not very productive, I decided to bypass the absolute authorities.

If you’re going to walk, it’s better on two legs. And when claiming originality, it is good to rely on stable banality. As my grandmother used to say (here I already got down to work, at the beginning it’s good to evoke a warm image): “You are brave, I am brave, let’s go together.” As one “leg”, I had a system at hand — my old friend, the owner of a factory and a steamship, an athlete and a marathon runner, has long been carrying some kind of powder in cans from abroad, from which athletes jump higher and run further, because lose weight and get in good shape. Eat it, and it cleverly deceives your body: you get everything you need, but the weight flies away.

The second «leg» promised to be creative. And all that is required is to get out of the rut, change (not so much) petty habits, look at whether you have fallen out of love with yourself imperceptibly, listen to whether you really need a change in weight, lightness, mobility. When you start doing this “for someone” (you never know who, squinting unkindly, looks from your censorship shelf), you enter into endless, albeit hidden, altercations and become a Push-Pull: lose weight — get fat, and you will push on it patch.

But that day I was not like that. Moreover, the beauty outside the window beckoned and promised that if you look closely and crawl out of your shell, you will jump like a goat and you yourself will not notice how you will pass into the image of another body (no need to worry — it’s completely human). Experience said: it’s good, even if briefly, to be strange — it is often an «elevator» between states, actual and desirable.

And then I went for a walk, through beautiful, unexpected, strange places, and those that just solved the problem of getting rid of small automatic gestures — deautomatization. And everything turned out to be useful to me. Lie under a tree, looking at the sky through the branches. Without grimacing, look for yourself in almost imperceptible, but strange movements. Change the position of the center of gravity and generally make unexpected and randomly chosen points temporarily the main ones. Looking at the beauty for a long time, slowly, waiting for the decal to appear, you will go through moments of boredom and confusion and see the landscape in a new way.

You won’t become a dancing dervish, you won’t quit your job, you won’t forget your vacation, but if you want to believe me and follow me, don’t be afraid to try yourself strange. If you want to lose weight, that is, change your image for yourself, a small part of your habits, take off the corset of excessive sociality and ostentatious adulthood. If you don’t want to, pretend that you are a diligent student and choose a system to your liking.

That is, I reminded myself that I control the habits, not they control me. So, I am the master in the house, in the house of my body.

Suddenly I discovered that when I look in the mirror in the morning, I don’t fly away somewhere, I don’t feel like turning away, but I make faces at myself, wink and smile. Try to then return to the position of the «eating creature.» Of course, you will succeed, but with difficulty, and now you know the way back. Welcome to the hole where Alice fell. Adventures await you, just don’t be afraid to shrink and grow, as befits a healthy imagination, on the muscles of which a healthy spirit grows. However, maybe that’s another story.
