WHO insists on quarantine in Belarus

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly spoken out publicly against the introduction of quarantine due to the spread of coronavirus infection.

According to the head of the country, the situation with COVID-19 is partly exaggerated and does not require special restrictions.

Alexander Grigorievich explained his position by the fact that the agrarian country would suffer greatly from the fact that everyone would instantly lose their jobs and leave production.

And the president also said that in Belarus they are still fighting the spread of coronavirus – just in a focal way, “in a different way, without isolating people, without issuing passes, when Moscow, for example, was stopped completely at all”.

Despite the actions taken by the government, the number of infected in Belarus continues to grow. At the moment, more than 6 thousand patients with COVID-19 have been identified.

Because of this, representatives of the World Health Organization officially insisted that quarantine be introduced in the country.

“The number of registered cases of COVID-19 in Belarus is growing rapidly. An outbreak in a country is entering a population transmission phase. Belarus needs to take steps to increase physical distancing, ”reads a statement on the WHO website. I wonder if the situation in the state will change now?
