The Great Yorkshire Showground took place in the English city of Harrogate (North Yorkshire).
This event has been held here annually since 1995. Gardeners from all over the UK came here to compete for the honorary titles along with the vegetables they grew – potatoes, onions, pumpkin, cabbage, zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, beans and parsnips.
This year, the winners were determined in 13 categories. For example, gardener Richard Mann won the prize for the largest pumpkin weighing 291,7 kg, and Graham Barratt won the nomination for the longest cucumber – 92 cm.
Craig Pearson’s giant cabbage weighing 27,4 kg overshadowed other competitors along with the 65,3-kilogram zucchini grown by Peter Glazebrook.
It is reported that the Great Yorkshire Showground was visited by about 40000 guests this year.
We will remind, earlier we told about a giant pineapple which was sold at auction and we were surprised, how big was the largest avocado in the world.
