What is the main activity of a school?
The aim of the nursery school is to develop the child’s first learning. If from a theoretical point of view, he will begin to discover reading and writing, he will also learn to socialize with children of his age. He will also be able to see the world around him and how to interact with it. Kindergarten follows cycle 1 of learning, which must be acquired before entering elementary school.
Kindergarten: the principal
It’s here school hub. The director is at the same time manager, educational animator, administrator, coordinator, mediator and, of course, responsible to the district inspector who represents the National Education. But he has no hierarchical power over the teachers in the school. Moreover, in small schools, he is often responsible for a class. On the parents’ side, he receives them for registrations or at their request, organizes the elections of representatives of parents of pupils, intervenes in a teacher / parent conflict, if applicable. He also develops the school project, accompanied by the entire school team, and chair the various councils (teachers, school, cycle).
What is the role of a teacher and a kindergarten teacher?
His title: school teacher. Its field of action: from the small section of kindergarten to CM2. His role : transmit knowledge. Contrary to popular belief, kindergarten teachers receive the same training as those in elementary school: bac + 5, they hold the Certificate of aptitude for teaching in schools (CAPE). The kindergarten teacher marks a break up with the nanny or nursery nurses since, with it, the child becomes a pupil. In kindergarten, priority is given to socialization, the mastery of l’oral, and rlocation in space and time, and the first mathematical notions.
The school doctor in kindergarten
It is attached to the National Education and runs in several schools. Generalist or specialist, he provides medical examinations, free of charge for parents. He receives all the children for a complete assessment (psychomotor development, sight, hearing, dentition) which is then sent to the parents in a sealed envelope. Also, its role is fundamental in terms of prevention for children not or irregularly followed outside. The year the child turns 6, either in nursery school or in CP, he performs a compulsory assessment.
Kindergarten: the school psychologist
He is a teacher who received training in psychology. He has a double competence: a knowledge of the field and specialized training. Depending on the National Education, he goes to several schools and can intervene at the request of the teacher if the latter notices difficulties. With the parents’ consent, he can do an assessment and offer a follow-up of the child.
Kindergarten: the Rased and specialized agents
The Network of Specialized Help for Students in Difficulty intervenes occasionally in the school, either within the class or in a separate class, individually or in small groups. There are two types of teachers: teacher E for learning difficulties at school and teacher G for behavioral problems in children who have difficulty adapting to school. Masters E and G will set up individualized support for children.
Kindergarten: Atsem and the animators
The former “lady on duty” is today Specialized Territorial Agent for Nursery Schools. Present in the early kindergarten section, she has an Early Childhood diploma and is recruited by the municipality, in the same way as the extracurricular animators (daycare, canteen, etc.).
