150 new coronavirus victims in China, five in Italy

23.02 people died in China on Sunday (February 150) due to the coronavirus. That’s 53 more than the day before. The total number of victims of the coronavirus has exceeded 2600. In Hubei province, which is believed to be the source of the virus, as many as 2 people have died. Overall, 495 people died in China.

Outside of China, most deaths, as many as 12, were recorded in Iran. In Europe, one death was recorded in France and as many as seven in Italy. In the latter country, the number of people infected with the coronavirus has increased sharply and now amounts to 229 patients. Most of them are in Lombardy.

Scientists from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention indicate which age groups are most often infected with the coronavirus and in which groups the mortality rate is highest.

Who dies most often from the coronavirus?

Researchers have determined that the highest death rate from the coronavirus COVID-19 occurs in the age group over 80 and is almost 15%. In patients aged 70-79 years, the mortality rate is at the level of 8%, and in the age group 60-69 years it is only 3,6%.

No case of death due to coronavirus infection has been reported among children under the age of nine. Scientists also noted that over 80 percent. cases of coronavirus infection are mild. People suffering from chronic diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes, respiratory diseases, as well as the elderly are at risk of severe infection.

All five deaths in Italy were over 75 years old. We also know about one of the women that she had cancer, so her immunity was weakened. In France, the only death toll was 80 years old.

The observations so far show that the coronavirus is not fatal to people who do not have immune burdens or related to age or other comorbidities – said the chief sanitary inspector Jarosław Pinkas in the Monday edition of the Polska Times.
