Who are the populations at risk for Verneuil’s disease?

There are different categories of populations at risk:

  • People who have affected people in the family because there is a genetic factor. In 30 to 40% of cases, there are several affected people in the same family.
  • There is a predominance among women, although it affects both sexes.
  • The disease often begins in adolescence or in young adults.
  • Verneuil’s disease is rare before puberty and after menopause.
  • The quality of hygiene is not in question in Verneuil’s disease. It is not a question of a lack of hygiene or an inadequate hygiene.
