Whiteheads on the face

Yes, they are different – white, black, red. And all equally unwanted. Why do whiteheads (milia) appear on the face, and how to get rid of them?

What are whiteheads

White eel is a formation on the skin, shaped like a millet grain, hence its popular name – millet.

Whiteheads are also called milia. They do not have an exit channel and are separated from the outside world by a sealed capsule, which is why the millet is also called the “subcutaneous rash”. Miliums are not dangerous, but on the face they do not look very aesthetically pleasing, which causes dissatisfaction.

Whiteheads look like grains.

Places of origin

Milia can be either multiple or single. Typical locations for whiteheads:
  • forehead;

  • nose;

  • cheeks;

  • chin;

  • the area around the eyes.

Causes of whiteheads on face

Naturally, everyone who is faced with this problem is concerned about the causes of the appearance of whiteheads on the forehead, chin and nose. Moreover, they can appear absolutely on any part of the skin, according to Canadian scientists.

But first it is necessary to separate the concepts in which confusion often occurs:

  • white pimples are rather a festering white pimple, a pustule (which you really want to squeeze out, but, as we know, you should not do this);

  • whiteheads are milia, “subcutaneous acne”, this article tells about these whiteheads and how to deal with them.

The main reason for the formation of acne is increased greasiness of the skin, which is usually associated with excessive sensitivity of the sebaceous glands to certain hormones. This is especially evident during the period of hormonal adjustment. But in general, millet is a phenomenon characteristic of oily skin.

Why, against the background of greasiness of the skin, some black dots (comedones) appear, while others have whiteheads, it is not entirely clear. Scientists suggest that this is caused by the individual reaction of the sebaceous glands to hormones and genetic predisposition.

However, there are other reasons for the appearance of whiteheads. Factors that can give impetus to their formation.

  • Nutrition – not without reason, it is believed that high-carbohydrate and starchy foods increase the sensitivity of the sebaceous glands to hormones.

  • Improper care – oily skin, if it is not enough or, on the contrary, cleansed too intensively, will always react with hyperactivity of the sebaceous glands. The same thing happens if you use cosmetics that are not suitable for your skin type or do not follow basic hygiene rules. For example, do not remove makeup in the evening and generally neglect skin cleansing.

In both children and adults, the formation of whiteheads has hormonal causes. In newborns, subcutaneous white pimples disappear on their own and without a trace (usually within a month or even faster), and, according to one observation, almost 95% of newborns have any skin defects, and the first on the list are milia – whiteheads. Adults will have to consult a specialist to get rid of millet as a cosmetic defect.

When to See a Doctor for Treatment

If the question arose of how to get rid of white pimples on the face, it is better to consult a doctor. If they arose against the background of acne (acne), the problem also needs to be solved comprehensively under the supervision of a doctor.

At home

How to get rid of whiteheads and fight them effectively worries many. Unfortunately, we have nothing to please you. There are no home methods and folk remedies for removing whiteheads. Furthermore! In no case do not try to do it yourself, as there is a high probability of harming the skin with inept movements and without proper knowledge. So the best solution is to contact a specialist.

How to get rid of whiteheads on the face with cosmetic methods

Getting rid of whiteheads is not so easy even in the office of a beautician. However, there are a number of ways to solve this problem.

Laser

One of the effective methods of getting rid of whiteheads on the chin. With the help of laser energy, they are destroyed in a matter of minutes. Your task after the procedure is to provide quality care, the necessary recommendations will be given by the specialist who performs the procedure. As a rule, it does not take much time and does not cause almost any discomfort.

Excision

The procedure is not very pleasant, its essence is to remove the milia manually. Why should this be done only in a beauty salon or clinic? The answer is obvious – sterile conditions are observed in the cosmetologist’s office, and the manipulation itself involves the actions of an experienced professional.

Electrocoagulation

Another fairly popular method by which you can get rid of whiteheads on your face. How does this happen? First, the doctor cleanses the skin of the face well with special solutions. Then, with the help of an “electroknife”, the millet is excised.

Cryotherapy

Quite comfortable and, most importantly, effective procedure, during which the patient experiences a minimum of discomfort. Pimples are cauterized and destroyed by liquid nitrogen.
