Whistling in the refrigerator at work, causes

Any refrigerator can make noise and buzz during operation, regardless of the period of operation. The question is how much noise exceeds the norm. Some users complain about whistling in the refrigerator. The reasons for its origin may be different. Pay attention to when exactly the whistle is heard: when opening the door or at another time.

What to do if the sounds during the operation of the equipment interfere with sleep?

Why does the refrigerator whistle and make noise

All household appliances buzz and make noise during operation. But if we are ready to put up with the temporary work of a vacuum cleaner or blender, then it is impossible to live with a strong constant noise of the refrigerator.

You can find out how much the equipment makes noise during operation, even in the store – it is not necessary to open the instructions. There is a sticker on the case where the energy saving class is indicated, as well as the noise level in dB. At home, the sound of equipment may differ from the declared ones, since testing is carried out in the factory. But if the refrigerator makes a whistle during operation, then there is a problem.

The main reason for the whistling is in the refrigerator fan (LG or another brand). The installed No Frost system provides for a fan that distills cold air.

Sometimes the fan blades are covered with a layer of ice, which causes extraneous sounds during operation. Then you need to unfreeze the equipment. But if you hear a whistle after defrost, lubricate the fan with spindle oil. This is an engine oil that does not freeze at low temperatures.

Another cause of whistling is the circulation of refrigerant through the system. Generally, this is considered normal. You may hear gurgling, gurgling, and other “strange” sounds. The environmentally friendly refrigerant in the system moves faster, so a whistle can be heard.

What other details cause extraneous sounds in the refrigerator?

motor-compressor

The compressor cycles on and off intermittently. To the sounds of a running engine, you can add:

  • rattling dishes, if they are close to each other;
  • vibration of the case with close-standing furniture or a battery.

Therefore, it is important to install equipment evenly, maintaining a distance of at least 5 cm from the wall and furniture.

The noise of the motor will be heard more often if the refrigerator is two-compressor, since each compressor works separately.

Start relay

The relay makes a clicking sound when it starts and stops. This is normal operation of the device, so do not worry.

No frost cooling system

Despite all the advantages, the “No Frost” system works louder than the usual drip installation. The reason for this is two fans, in the refrigerator and freezer compartments. Add to this the noise of the refrigerant through the pipes.

Of course, not everything is so simple. The noise level depends on the manufacturer. Even a large refrigerator equipped with the latest technology can be quieter than a small and compact one if the manufacturer has thought through all the details and developed high-quality sound insulation.

Refrigerator installation rules

To avoid extraneous sounds that will cause irritation over time, follow these simple rules:

  1. Do not put the refrigerator close to other furniture, leave a gap of 5-10 cm.
  2. Do not install equipment near heating appliances and gas stoves.
  3. Connect only to a grounded socket. It is advisable to install a mains fuse.
  4. Make sure that the refrigerator is installed level, with a slight deviation back – otherwise the door will open.
  5. Leave space at the back of the equipment for proper ventilation.

Be attentive to the operation of the refrigerator. If you are tired of loud noise for a long time, it is better to call the master. When new equipment is noisy, you can contact the store where the purchase was made.
