Whiskey Tullamore Dew (Tullamore Dew): history, review of taste and types

The legendary Irish whiskey “Tullamore Dew” keeps local traditions of distilling for 200 years, delighting consumers with high quality and memorable taste.

A drink without the smoky flavor inherent in Scottish varieties and intense sweetness characteristic of American bourbons is known as the first blend of the Emerald Isle.

It is one of the leaders among local brands, standing out among them with an unusually light shade and a complex bouquet.

History of the Tullamore Due brand

Tullamore distillery in the heart of the city of the same name was founded in 1829 by local farmer Michael Molloy. The region for construction was chosen well: the surrounding lands supplied the plant with first-class grain and clean water.

Nearby is the Grand Canal, through which whiskey barrels were melted down to Dublin.

Half a century later, the company passed into the hands of Captain Bernard Daly, who entrusted the management of affairs to the hardworking worker Daniel Edmond Williams. It is this man, who has gone from a boy in the stable to the owner of the distillery, is considered the real creator of the brand. His initials “DEW” are not accidentally included in the names of drinks. From a successful combination of letters (“dew” means “dew”), an equally successful slogan was born: “Give Every Man His Dew” (“Give everyone his Dew”).

Daniel made a significant contribution not only to the development of the legendary whiskey recipe, but also to the equipment of the distillery. Thanks to him, electricity, telephone, motorized equipment appeared in Tullamore. He brought the brand’s drinks to the international market, leaving other Irish products far behind.

In his work, Williams was guided by the motto: “Success does not come to those who strongly desire it, but to those who care about what they do.” And persistently brought it to life.

Daniel’s determination and solidity were inherited by his grandson Desmond, who was not afraid of innovation and created the first blended whiskey in Ireland. It was Tullamore Dew Blended Whiskey. With his suggestion, green color and the image of a local breed of dogs – Irish wolfhounds – began to be used in the design of labels.

In the middle of the 60th century, the enterprise was closed and revived again only XNUMX years later. Today the brand is owned by Cantrell & Cochrane.
