Whiskey Scottish Stag: history and review of the drink

Scotch scotch is highly valued by hard liquor aficionados around the world. The Russian consumer is no exception, for whom famous distillers even create separate brands of whiskey.

One of these products is the Scottish Stag blend, designed specifically for the taste of domestic scotch lovers.

History of the Scottish Stag brand

The creator of a unique brand is one of the giants of the alcohol industry – Ian Macleod Distillers.

It is noteworthy that the company does not belong to the oldest whiskey producers at all: it was founded only in 1936 and did not even own a single distillery until the early 2000s. At the origins of the great concern stood at that time an unknown whiskey broker Leonard Russell. He began his activity as an intermediary between the producers of malt spirits and the creators of blends.

From the very first steps in the business world, the entrepreneur set a course for independence, choosing only the best among a wide range of products. And this strategy brought success to the company.

In the 1950s, Leonard’s son Peter joined the family business and began to actively buy alcohol brands. Thus, Isle of Skye and King Robert II scotches, London Hill gin and many other brands appeared in the company’s portfolio.

In 2003, the first own distillery “Glengoyne” was acquired, a couple of years later the second – “Tamdhu”. Gradually, the company grew to a large-scale enterprise selling more than 15 million bottles of alcohol a year. She was the first in Scotland to start bottling alcohol specifically for supermarkets, and is one of the few family-owned whiskey companies that has retained its independence.

The Scottish Stag brand appeared in the portfolio of the legendary company in 2000.

The name of the drink is translated as “Scottish deer”. The image of a proud animal – a symbol of strength and grace – is adorned with an adhesive tape label. A high-quality inexpensive blend quickly gained popularity not only in Russia, but also in the countries of North Asia.
