History of the brand

The origins of Ian Macleod & Company Ltd., which has been producing popular scotch for more than half a century, go back to 1936, when Leonard Russell founded his own liquor company.

Throughout the XNUMXth century, the company actively bought the best Scotch whiskeys in order to offer customers only worthy products. In the portfolio of Ian Macleod Distillers, already managed by the founder’s great-grandchildren, there are many famous brands. Among them: blends “Isle of Skye” and “Clan Macleod”, single molts “Glengoyne” and “Tamdhu”, several types of rum, vodka, wine and gin.

In 1984, the company created its own bottling shop “Broxburn Bottlers”.

In the 2000s, the company’s possessions were replenished with the famous Tamdhu and Rosebank distilleries. Today, Ian Macleod Distillers is the 10th largest Scottish whiskey company and sells over 15 million bottles of Scotch annually.

The brand “King Robert II” appeared in the assortment of the enterprise in 1968. The drink got its name from one of the representatives of the Scottish Stuart dynasty.

To create a blend, first-class grain and malt spirits are used, which have undergone long-term aging in sherry and bourbon barrels (from 3 to 12 years).

The soft, smooth character of the scotch was highly acclaimed at the 2007 IWSC International Competition, where it won gold in the Best Blended Scotch Whiskey – No Age Stated category. Also on account of the drink – a few less significant awards.

Today the blend is presented in more than 40 countries, in 5 of them it is the bestseller. The annual sales volume is about 500 thousand copies. In addition to whiskey, vodka, gin and rum are produced under the same brand.
