Glenfarclas (Гленфарклас) – Scotch whiskey, owned by the family business. The production technology has not changed for 2 centuries, and the yeast recipe is kept in the strictest confidence. The distillate continues to be heated with a burner in the old way, so as not to lose taste and strength. However, the equipment is constantly being improved and updated.
Glenfarclas whiskey features
For the production of whiskey, the purest Scottish melt water is used, and it is distilled according to a method with a century of history. It was invented by John Grant in the XNUMXth century. The drink is aged for at least ten years in sherry casks, thanks to which it acquires an aroma woven from oak, nuts and vanilla.
For the preparation of the drink, local varieties of barley of the highest quality are used, and the malt is pre-dried on peat fuel, which affects the taste. After this procedure, whiskey loses excessive bitterness.
The production involved six cubes made of copper. They undergo a process of double distillation of spirits on an open fire.
History of Glenfarclas whiskey
1790 Robert Hay founded the Glenfarclas distillery right on his farm, which is located in Speyside, Scotland.
1844 The owner has obtained a production license.
1865 When Hay died, his neighbor John Grant bought the distillery for £512. Since then, it has been in the hands of his family.
1895 The distillery became part of the Glenfarclas-Glenlivet Distillery Co.
1968 The company pioneered cask bottling with the launch of single malt whisky. Fino sherry and Oloroso sherry are stored in barrels before whiskey, they are made of European oak.
1973 The distillery was among the first to open its doors to visitors.
2007 The release of the collection “The family casks” took place. This is a series of vintage whiskey that has been aged for five decades.
