History of the brand

The founder of the young brand “Glen Clyde” is the former captain of the British Royal Navy, George Christie, who came into the distillery business in 1956.

For more than thirty years, he has been building a distillery near the village of Drumguish in the Highlands, and in 1990 he began the production of whiskey.

Among the drinks produced by the entrepreneur at the new distillery was Glen Clyde. Scotch got its name in honor of the valley of the river Clyde, flowing near the plant.

Since 2012, the Speyside Distillery has been taken over by the Harvey family. The new owners focused on creating single malts. The Glen Clyde blend is now produced by the independent manufacturer and supplier GCWL, which produces the drink in large quantities specifically for supermarkets.

According to legend, the whiskey is made according to an 1837 recipe using selected farm barley and purified water from the Tromi River.

Before blending, spirits undergo mandatory aging in oak.

Due to the affordable price and decent quality, the blend quickly gained popularity and even managed to win several international awards. Among them: gold “San Francisco World Spirits Competition” and “LA International Wine and Spirits Competition”.
