Whirlpool Washing Machine Errors – Codes and Meanings

Understanding what each code means, you can quickly reanimate the washing machine by helping it yourself or by reporting the nature of the problem to the master.

For those who have lost the user manual, we have prepared a table with codes for Whirlpool machines. We collected codes and combinations for all models in the table, described what each code means and what to do to save the machine from breakdown.

Error code Decoding the code Possible failure, troubleshooting

FH (F01).

1 LED.

No water enters the tub, or too little water has accumulated – there is not enough water for washing. If the FN or F01 error is lit on the display, it can be caused by a number of reasons:

  1. Insufficient pressure in the water pipe. Normalize the pressure, contact a plumber.
  2. The water supply valve is only slightly open or completely closed – you need to open the taps.
  3. Clogged inlet valve, or rather, its filter – cleaning is required.
  4. It is also worth eliminating the siphon effect, which provokes self-draining due to the incorrect location of the water drain hose.
  5. Broken pressure switch. Cleaning of the hydraulic system (tubes) of the sensor is required. You may need to replace the pressure switch.
  6. The wiring of the valve, level sensor or pump that pumps out water is broken. Maintenance of wires and contacts is required: check, stripping, replacement.
  7. Malfunction of the electronic unit. It is necessary to replace defective areas or the entire module.

FA (F02).

5 and 9 LEDs.

Aquastop worked. When the system shows an error FA or F02, it is worth taking into account the following possible causes of failure:

  • Inlet valve blocked. Valve replacement will help.
  • The system leaked due to depressurization of the tank, pipes and hoses. Having found the cause of the leak, it is worth replacing the defective part. Important! The CMA tank is beyond repair and expensive to replace. Consider buying a new machine.
  • The module is broken – partially or completely. Repair or complete replacement of the module will help.

FP (F03).

5, 6, 8 LEDs.

Failure in the water pumping system – waste water does not leave the tank. If the FR is displayed, and in some F03 models, this can be caused by three reasons:

  1. The pump pumping out the waste water has served its purpose – it could burn out or weaken the contacts, its filter could become clogged. How to fix: if the pump is no longer repairable, then it is worth replacing the part with a new one.
  2. The drain hose or other element of the drain system is clogged. To eliminate the blockage, you need to clean all the links of the drain chain by washing them under the tap.
  3. The control unit has broken – partially or completely. The solution to the problem is to repair or completely replace the unit.

F04.

4 and 9 bulbs.

Failure of the heating system, or rather: the water does not warm up to the required temperatures in the time allotted by the program.

You can remove the F04 error after checking the electrical circuit of the sensor, maintaining the contacts, replacing wires with defective sections.

If the NTC is broken, then the sensor needs to be replaced with an original part.

F05.

Temperature sensor failure. To eliminate error F05, you need to check the resistance of the temperature sensor and replace the defective element.

F06.

Indicator 4, 5, 9.

The tachogenerator does not give signals.

Error F05 or F06 is accompanied by the fact that the motor rotates at low speeds or does not work at all.

Most likely, the breakdown lies in the tachogenerator. It is possible that the locking spring washer has come loose. Sometimes it is enough to simply restore the normal position of the puck. In case of other damage, the tachogenerator must be replaced.

The second option: the connection in the TAHO – motor – board circuit is broken. The connection needs to be re-established.

F07.

4, 5, 6, 9 lights.

The motor control circuit is broken.

Error F07 means:

  1. Malfunction in the area of uXNUMXbuXNUMXbthe electric motor control board. The solution is to replace the burnt triac.
  2. Control unit defective. Repair or replacement of the entire module will help.

F08.

3 and 9 LEDs.

Broken water heater – heating element. When the Whirlpool washing machine gives an F08 error, this may be caused by such factors:

  1. The heating element burned out, or its wiring was cut off, the contacts were oxidized. Maintenance of the contacts or replacement of the heater will help.
  2. Broken pressure switch.
  3. Malfunction of the electronic unit.
  4. Thermistor circuit broken. Inspect the contacts and thermistor for serviceability, replace the sensor.

F09. Water overflow detected. When F09 is lit on the display, consider first of all such possible causes of failure:

  • The pressure sensor is broken. It is necessary to replace the sensor nozzles or the pressure switch itself.
  • Fill valve failed. To repair the damage, you need to replace the part.
  • The operation of the control module is broken. Replace part of the board or the entire control unit.

F10. Motor breakdown. With code F10, the most likely causes of engine failure are:

  • The error in the operation of the thermosensor. If this element cannot be repaired, the entire control unit or motor will have to be changed.
  • Triac failure. The problem is solved by replacing individual sections of the Whirlpool washing machine control unit.

F11. Breakdown of communications.

Check the voltage level in the electrical network of your home, if the parameters are not appropriate, then it is worth restoring the optimal parameters.

You may need to contact an electrician.

F12.

3, 4, 9 LEDs.

No heating, washing takes place in cold water. Resetting errors occurs after the elimination of the causes of failure:

  1. The relay responsible for heating the water has stuck – located on the electronic unit. The relay needs to be replaced.
  2. The heating element is broken or breaks into the body of the Whirlpool washing machine. If, after checking the heater with a tester, you are convinced that it is broken, replace the heating element.
  3. Break in the wiring connecting the heater to the module. Wire maintenance required.
  4. Thermal sensor failure.

F13.

3, 4, 6, 9 lights.

Water is either drawn too long, or not poured at all. Code F13 appears in such cases:

  • Reduced pressure in the water pipe. Measures must be taken to normalize the pressure.
  • Powder cuvette clogged – remove dispenser and rinse. If you can not remove, clean directly on the typewriter.
  • Fill valve clogged. Usually cleaning the filter mesh is enough to fix the problem.

F14.

3, 4, 5, 9 LEDs.

Invalid EEPROM values. Most likely, the failure touched the processor. The firmware of the controller or the replacement of the control module is required.

F15.

3, 4, 5, 6, 9 indicators.

In many SM Whirlpool models, the code F15 indicates a breakdown of the electric motor. To find a way out of the situation, it is enough to determine the cause of the breakdown and localize it:

  • Replace control board components: relay or triac.
  • Replace the motor brushes or the entire motor.
  • Replace the tachogenerator in case of malfunction.
  • Check wiring between motor and board.
  • Repair or replace the command block.

The control module has failed.

Most likely, with code F21, the circuit between the board and the control panel was broken. Maintenance of contacts and wiring will help.

If this does not bear fruit, you need to repair or change the board.

F22. Code F22 can indicate 2 breakdowns:

  • Failure in the operation of the heating element.
  • No water flow through powder receptacle due to blockage.

To stop the washer from giving an error, eliminate the causes of the failure:

  1. Heater failure. Need a replacement.
  2. The wiring between the heating element and the board broke. Wiring maintenance required.
  3. The voltage in the network has dropped to a level insufficient for the operation of the SMA.
