Every housewife knows that the kitchen needs wallpapers that are easy to care for. After all, during cleaning you have to use detergents, and sometimes a brush. They should tolerate high humidity well and not absorb odors. The requirements are quite strict and there are not so many types of wallpaper that meet them. Therefore, choosing wallpaper for the kitchen, given the material, is not very difficult. But choosing a color scheme and drawing is more difficult at times.
What wallpaper is better to glue in the kitchen
First, briefly about those species that are not suitable. The worst option is paper. They will live in a normal state for a very short time. The stain that gets there will remain forever. There are so-called washable paper wallpapers. They really allow you to wipe them several times with a damp cloth. You can remove dust from them, but soot, grease, juice stains and the like are unrealistic.
Acrylic wallpaper is also not suitable. The coating is very gentle and soft, it is erased even with a rag. If you accidentally hit a wall with your fingernail, you will leave a strip on them. So it’s definitely not in the kitchen. Natural wallpaper based on cork, bamboo, silk, fabric is not suitable. They are environmentally friendly, beautiful, but they absorb odors and are afraid of moisture, they do not wash well (or rather, they do not wash at all). That’s why they also disappear.
What wallpaper is suitable
Of the variety of coatings, only vinyl wallpapers and fiberglass-based wallpapers for painting remained. Here they are the best choice. Vinyl is more widely represented. They are plain, embossed, with flat and textured patterns.
The vinyl film covering the base, hence the name, is very dense and strong. Some types are really difficult to damage, they can be washed with a brush with detergents (non-abrasive). In addition, polyvinyl chloride, the full name of the material from which the film is made, is not afraid of moisture. The color on such wallpaper is resistant, does not fade and does not change. Pasted on the walls, they do not absorb odors, and some types prevent the growth of mold and fungi.

Vinyl wallpapers can be on paper or non-woven base. Better on non-woven. Of course, they are more expensive than on paper, but they are glued several times easier, while the wall looks much better. If you want to choose really good wallpaper for the kitchen that sticks well, looks great and is easy to clean, choose non-woven. This, of course, if the wallet allows, they cost 50-80% more.
Is there some more compact vinyl. It is also called “heavy vinyl”. It usually has a relief coating that imitates, and quite reliably, heavy natural finishing materials: brick or stonework, a wooden surface, etc. They can not only be washed, but also scratched. They cost no less than vinyl on non-woven.
If you like plain walls, but want relief, then choose vinyl for painting or glass. Both of them behave well in the kitchen, only fiberglass-based wallpapers can be repainted 10 times, sometimes more, and vinyl 5-7 times.
An excellent choice would be to cover the walls in the kitchen with the so-called liquid wallpaper. Their second name is Venetian plaster, which is not entirely true, since there is no sand in the composition. Sold in bags, and this mixture includes: cellulose, silk fibers, dyes and various decorative materials.
The composition of liquid wallpaper differs: cotton, silk and combined. With the first two, everything is clear, and in the third group, in addition to cellulose, cotton and wool are included.
They got the name liquid wallpaper because of the technology of preparation for application. They are diluted with water and applied to the walls, while undemanding to the surface. They do not smell, dry quickly and look beautiful, you can choose any color and consistency. In addition to these advantages, they are not yet toxic when heated and are fireproof. One more thing can be added to the advantages of all these coatings, they even out and hide small surface irregularities. That is, the wall does not have to be perfectly flat. At the same time, they fit perfectly on the wall.
How to choose a color
If the wallpaper in the kitchen is only part of a global renovation with a complete replacement of the situation, then you need to choose based on general recommendations. If you already have a kitchen set and an apron, then the choice is limited. It is necessary to find a color that will be in harmony with the existing design. In each sector there are colors, the combination with which is considered ideal. These are all colors of the same gamut.
