Which vaccine is best for revaccination: “Sputnik V” and “Sputnik Light”

In early July, the Ministry of Health officially determined the procedure for revaccination against COVID-19. The head of the department, Mikhail Murashko, in an interview with reporters, explained how and why it is necessary to re-vaccinate.

According to the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, during an actively spreading pandemic, it is necessary to be vaccinated every six months. In a period when the threat of COVID-19 is not so great, you can get vaccinated less often – once a year. Murashko emphasized that repeated administration of the drug should ensure the maintenance of a high level of antibodies against coronavirus infection.

The head of the department named Sputnik Light as a drug intended for revaccination. According to official data, its effectiveness is approximately 80%, and antibodies are produced in sufficient quantities in the body 28 days after the administration of the vaccine.

A vaccine specialist, head of one of the Moscow medical centers, Evgenia Timakova, answering questions from Komsomolskaya Pravda, also recommended Sputnik Light for re-vaccination.

“” Sputnik Light “is specially designed for revaccination. If good protection was obtained with the primary vaccination, the antibody titers were high, but now this vaccine is an excellent choice for booster vaccination. If the antibody titers are almost completely or completely gone, then re-vaccinate with “Sputnik V” “, – called Timakova.

However, the vaccinologist believes that for revaccination it is enough to be vaccinated with Sputnik Light. To do this, you can not be tested for antibodies and be vaccinated, so to speak, blindly.

It should be noted that Sputnik Light is a drug that is administered in one stage. According to the developers, this is enough to form immunity to COVID-19.

Sputnik Light is based on human adenovirus type 26.

It is known that in a number of metropolitan vaccination points it will be possible to vaccinate with one or another drug. In this case, it does not matter what you were vaccinated with the first time.
