I have one friend whom I call a “gastronomic pervert” because his favorite snack for vodka is cake, and herring with garlic for cognac.
Perhaps there are lovers of mixing tastes like him, but in my opinion such gastronomic barbarity does not allow you to enjoy the taste of either food or drinks. Therefore, I believe that you need to properly combine alcohol with food.
And since I prefer to drink stronger alcohol (vodka and cognac), I will tell you about the features of combining these drinks with food.
Which dishes are flavored with vodka?
In moderation, vodka is able to emphasize the advantages and hide the shortcomings of almost any food. Such a strong drink is combined with almost all popular dishes, however, it is best suited to Russian cuisine. All snacks for vodka can be divided into 3 groups:
- Nutritious. This includes the first and second hot dishes, which perfectly remove the unpleasant aftertaste and burning sensation in the mouth after drinking a glass.
- Enveloping. This group includes salads, appetizers and sauces consumed after the onset of a feeling of satiety. It is at this stage that the taste sensations are fixed.
- Washing. These include pickles and marinades, which perfectly refresh the taste and prepare the body for a new intake of vodka.
In my opinion, a 40% drink is best suited to the taste of the following dishes:
- fat;
- ham, sausages;
- herring with pickled onions;
- sandwiches with caviar;
- the vinaigrette;
- jelly;
- hodgepodge.
Also, to all of the above, you can add sauerkraut, pickles, tomatoes and mushrooms. Having tried such a combination as vodka and pickles, you will no longer want to experiment with other dishes.
Important! In the process of drinking vodka, salts are washed out of the body. Pickles and marinades help restore the water-salt balance, improving the absorption of alcohols.
The taste of which dishes will be emphasized by cognac
Cognac is an exquisite drink that is beautiful in itself and practically does not need an appetizer. However, in combination with some food, it can cause a real “gastronomic orgasm”.
The opinion that cognac is best combined with lemon is wrong. Citric acid completely drowns out the taste of the drink.
For those who consume good, expensive cognac, I advise you to choose the following food:
- tartlets with caviar;
- sandwiches with pate;
- cheese, meat cuts;
- fruits (pears, grapes);
- lean meat;
- seafood;
- mushrooms;
- dark chocolate.
Also, cognac will not bad emphasize the taste of dishes with nuts, olives and red caviar.
Dishes for which both vodka and cognac are suitable
If you want to set a universal table suitable for both vodka and cognac, then I advise you to pay attention to the following products:
- meat;
- fish, seafood;
- cheese, sausages;
- caviar.
It is best to prepare such dishes:
- barbecue;
- sandwiches, tartlets;
- sofa;
- cheese and nut balls;
- beef medallions;
- baked meat and fish.
Note! Despite the fact that and in what quantity is on the table, you should not abuse strong alcohol, otherwise then you will not only not feel the taste of food, but you will also suffer from a severe hangover in the morning.
With what food you should not drink vodka and cognac
In order to leave only pleasant memories of the feast, it is best not to combine vodka with sweets, pastries, cakes and other sweets, because this combination causes problems with the liver and guarantees a severe hangover in the morning.
Strong alcohol does not go well with such products:
- spicy snacks;
- fat meat;
- fresh tomatoes;
- melon;
- watermelon.
When drinking cognac, avoid spicy and too aromatic dishes that interrupt the smell of alcohol.
