The world has been fighting COVID-19 for over a year. Although a few months ago we acquired the biggest weapon in this battle – vaccines, there are still countries where tens of thousands of infections arrive every day, hundreds of people die, and the health service is on the verge of capacity. Fortunately, there are also countries that manage to control the pathogen. Who is winning the war against the pandemic, who is on the right track, and who, unfortunately, is losing so far? Where is Poland located? Get to know the latest ranking of the EndCoronavirus organization.

The EndCoronavirus organization associates over 4. volunteers from all over the world. They include, among others epidemiologists, clinicians, analysts, social activists, entrepreneurs. It was established on February 29, 2020 in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic. EndCoronavirus develops solutions and guidance that can help end the pandemic as quickly as possible, advises entrepreneurs and individuals.
The organization has also prepared a regularly updated list of countries around the world based on the current epidemic situation. Based on the analyzed data, EndCoronavirus divides the countries affected by the pandemic into three groups: in the green zone there are countries that are doing well to contain the pandemic, in the yellow zone are those that are close to containment of infections, in the red zone are countries that have there is still a lot to do in the fight against the pandemic. The chart below shows how the situation in the world has developed in terms of the struggle with SARS-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic – the colors (green, yellow and red) reflect the division presented above.

It is clear that, unfortunately, countries that are not coping with the epidemic are still dominant. As of April 20, there are 93 of them. The fewest countries have the situation under control – at the moment there are 26. The positive news, however, is the fact that the number of countries that are close to controlling the infections is generally increasing. – while in the fall there were about 14 of them, now there are 21. But let’s look at the details.
Countries best coping with the COVID-19 pandemic
What was the criterion used to classify countries into the green, yellow or red group? As the organization explains, a green zone means no new transmission of the coronavirus inside the community for 14 consecutive days. All new cases, if they appear at all, are only in people who have been effectively isolated from the moment they entered a given country (zone). What countries are in this fortunate group?
As mentioned above, there are currently 26 of them (for example, in mid-November there were 29). These are (in alphabetical order): Australia, Barbados, Belize (Central America state), Buthan, Brunei, Burma, Dominica (Caribbean Sea state), Fiji, Haiti, Vatican City, Iceland, Laos, Lichtenstein, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Micronesia, Monaco, New Zealand, Republic of Niger, Saint Kitts and Nevis (Caribbean Sea State), Samoa, San Marino, Solomon Islands, Taiwan, Vanuatu (Oceania), Vietnam. Countries on track to win the COVID-19 pandemic
The “yellow” countries included countries where there was no new local transmission for 14 consecutive days, but where new cases were detected through contact tracing. Yellow countries are able to eliminate or reduce new infections within a reasonable time frame. There are currently 21 countries in the yellow zone (for example, there were 12 in mid-November). They are: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Belgium, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, China, Ireland, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Malta, Morocco, Nigeria, Panama, Portugal, Senegal, Singapore, South Africa, United Kingdom.

Countries that are not coping with the COVID-19 pandemic
As in the previous rankings, the third, red group is the most numerous, but the number of those qualifying here seems to be falling. Currently, 93 countries are included in this group. The “red” includes countries that, for various reasons, have still not mastered the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infections enough to be in the green or yellow zone. Poland was included in this list (below a fragment of the chart taking into account our country).

India, Turkey and the United States are the countries with the highest daily increases in new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infections. On April 19, the Indian Ministry of Health reported 278. new coronavirus infections. This is the highest number in this country since the outbreak began. On the same day, Turkey, second in the ranking, recorded five times less – 55. 149. Daily increases in the incidence exceeding 20 thousand. that day was recorded in six countries. In addition to the three mentioned above, they are: Brazil, Iran and Argentina. Poland was in 14th place (7 283 infections).
