Where to start preparing for pregnancy, diet in preparation for pregnancy
The birth of a baby is a joyful, but at the same time a very exciting event, which should be approached with full responsibility. You need to start taking care of your child’s health long before his conception. Do I need to prepare for the birth of a child, where should I start preparing for pregnancy?
Where to start preparing for pregnancy?
Preparations for pregnancy should be started a few months before the intended conception. The health of the future baby directly depends on the health of his parents, so the first thing that future parents should do is to undergo a medical examination. Talk to a family planning doctor who will tell you what tests you need to take and what procedures to go through.
Chronic diseases (including dental) and infections of parents are fraught with a significant threat to the baby, therefore, they must be identified and cured (or stabilized) before conception
Have you already passed all the necessary examinations and are sure that there are no medical contraindications to conception? Start preparing for pregnancy by following these simple rules:
- It is better not to have bad habits at all. But if you do have them, you will have to get rid of them – this applies to both parents. Smoking and alcohol (not to mention more addictions) cause irreparable harm to both you and your unborn child.
- Monitor your diet. The best diet to prepare for pregnancy is a balanced, healthy, nutritious diet. You must get enough protein, vitamins and minerals. Lean meats, whole grains, fresh vegetables and fruits, and natural dairy products should be the basis of nutrition in preparation for pregnancy. Take multivitamins that contain folic acid – its deficiency in the parents’ body threatens the future embryo with serious disorders in the development of the nervous system.
- Take care of your emotional state. Stress is bad for both the mother-to-be and the baby.
Exercise will help maintain emotional balance; choose the activity you like, from walking in the park to fitness and dancing.
Preparing the body for pregnancy
Your body will face a serious test – it will face serious changes and significant loads. Help him cope with them – preparing the body for pregnancy should begin even before the moment of conception:
- Take care of your skin. Changes in weight and a sharp increase in body volume with insufficient elasticity of the skin can lead to stretch marks. To avoid their appearance, moisturize the skin using products that increase its turgor and elasticity.
- Strengthen your muscles. Strong, well-developed core muscles significantly reduce the risk of back pain; in general, the body, which is in good shape due to regular physical activity, tolerates pregnancy and childbirth more easily.
- Don’t forget about bones. Your musculoskeletal system has to take on an additional load, so it is imperative to include foods containing calcium in your diet.
Take care of your health, remember – you take care of your future baby too!
