Summer without rollers is like a beach without the sea. Anyone who at least once enjoyed rollerblading will no longer be able to live without them and will adapt any courtyard, square or boulevard for skating. WDay.ru helps you find and tells you about the most popular roller-skating sites in Moscow.
Open areas
There are a lot of them in Moscow. Each has its own pros and cons. Somewhere bad asphalt, but good service, somewhere – too many people … But first things first.
Poklonnaya Hill
The most popular spot for skaters. But what to hide – this is the best skiing area in the capital. Spacious, many paths, alleys, descents and ascents. Good quality asphalt. It is always crowded here, but this does not interfere with enjoying skiing. Both aggressive and just amateurs ride on Poklonka.
VDNKh
The second most popular hangout place for roller skaters, which usually gather near the Friendship of Peoples fountain. There is plenty of free space in the park. Smooth asphalt. There is where to jump and accelerate. There are several cafes nearby, there is a rental of rollers.
Sparrow Hills
Here you can ride on the observation deck (just try not to knock down the wedding procession) and along the adjacent alleys. There are usually not very many rollers here, which is ideal for beginner extreme sports. But the most partying place is near
When going on a roller-roller ride, take protective equipment with you. It is not necessary to stock up on a helmet (unless, of course, you are an extreme aggressive), but gloves, knee pads и elbow pads still better to wear. Protection is unlikely to save you from serious injuries (pah-pah-pah), but it will protect you from bruises, abrasions and bruises.
Gorky Park
In winter, here is the best skating rink in Moscow – all the paths of the park are completely filled. In summer, Gorky Park turns into a traditional roller skating site. However, it should be borne in mind that in the evenings on weekdays and on weekends, the park is very crowded.
Moskva River Embankment
Prechistenskaya embankment turns into Frunzenskaya, Frunzenskaya – into Luzhnetskaya, which then turns into Novodevichya and Savvinskaya … The Moskva River embankment is an excellent route that allows you not only to ride, but also to enjoy amazing views of the capital. The river crosses the whole city, you just need to choose the closest section of the embankment to you. The asphalt almost along the entire length of the embankment (especially in the center) is of excellent quality.
Site in the Botanical Garden
A gorgeous park with tropical and subtropical flora and an area of 361 hectares. The Botanical Garden has two disadvantages: far from perfect asphalt and gardeners who suddenly run out trying to expel you from the park (which usually ends in nothing, because running away from the gardener on rollerblades is as easy as shelling pears).
Where else can you go for a ride:
Alexander Garden – a good place to hang out with an interesting landscape. Minus: the coverage is poor.
Sokolniki Park” – there are many trees, an abundance of cafes with barbecue and ice cream stands. Good asphalt. There is a rental point for rollers. Minus: too many people.
Izmailovsky Park – is really huge, but you can ride in it only along the central alleys. A little further away, the asphalt is covered in cracks. Pros: beautiful shady alleys. Developed catering network.
Closed areas
If it’s a rainy day, and you still really want to go rollerblading (it’s very dangerous to ride on wet asphalt!), Go to the indoor rollerdrome. There are several sites in Moscow where you can rent skates, work out with an experienced instructor and just have a nice rest.
Pros of covered areas.
- Clean, smooth, almost perfect surface
- It’s safer to fall on artificial turf
- You can train in any weather all year round
The downsides are that for the entrance, as a rule, you have to pay.
