Where to put the powder in the washing machine. Video
Modern washing machines differ in design from each other, and if there is no instruction at hand, then not only the choice of the optimal washing mode, but also the determination of the place where the washing powder or bleach should be loaded can become a problem.
Where to put the powder for the main and prewash
The design of the overwhelming majority of automatic washing machines provides a pull-out tray (container) for detergents and rinses, located on the front or top panel.
On top-loading washing machines, the powder tray can be located on the door for loading the laundry.
Typically, the tray is divided into three compartments. The smallest compartment is usually marked with a special symbol (it can be an asterisk or a flower) – it is intended for products used during rinsing (rinses or conditioners with a softening or antistatic effect). The other two compartments are for the main and prewash detergents.
The compartment marked “A” or “I” is only used if you have selected a program with prewash or soak. Detergents for the main wash are loaded into the compartment marked “B” (“II”).
If the marking is erased, you can be guided by the volume of the compartments. The pre-wash requires less powder than the main wash, so many manufacturers make compartment B more voluminous. Another way to determine the compartment for the main wash is to run the machine dry. Without loading the laundry into the tub, turn on the washing machine by selecting the mode without prewash, then pull out the powder container about halfway. You will see water start pouring into the main wash compartment.
In the tray for washing powder, you can load not only powder, but also liquid products: shampoos and gels for washing, as well as bleaches and stain removers designed for automatic washing
Is it possible to put powder into a drum
Laundry detergents can be loaded not only into the tray, but also directly into the drum of the washing machine. Some manufacturers of powders (in particular, those intended for washing children’s clothes) even recommend pouring them into the drum, and not into the tray. And tabletted powders, in principle, are not intended for loading into a tray: the stream of water will not have time to dissolve and rinse them. Therefore, loading into a drum is the only correct way to use such products.
You can also put gels and shampoos for washing into the drum (some manufacturers even supply packages with detergent with a special container: a dispensing cap that is placed in the drum along with the laundry).
However, bleaching powders and liquid bleaches and stain removers can only be loaded into the tray, otherwise their effect on things will be uneven, and contact with concentrated bleach can damage the fabric.
By the way
The powder loading tray should be cleaned at least once a month. Sometimes the powder does not completely dissolve, and its remnants freeze at the bottom of the tray. Due to the quality of the water, yellow plaque accumulates on the walls, in some cases even mold forms. To remove all this, the tray must be pulled out of the machine – usually this does not require any effort, just push it from the bottom. Then it needs to be thoroughly cleaned with a sponge or toothbrush, rinsed under running water, and then put in place.
It will not be superfluous to clean the entire washing machine. How to do it, read HERE.
