Cellulite is the domain of women. For some, it is more visible, for others less so – cellulite is certainly an undesirable companion when warm days come and we take out shorts or dresses revealing legs from the wardrobe. Unfortunately, it is the fair sex that is doomed to fight this problem. This is related to the structure of the female body and the distribution of adipose tissue.
Fat lumps, which are commonly called orange peel, are often observed on the surface of women’s skin. The main places of occurrence are the thighs, buttocks and hips. The causes of cellulite are numerous, ranging from improper diet and lack of exercise to hormonal and genetic conditions. Cellulite is formed by the squeezing of subcutaneous fat by fibrous connective tissue. As a result, there is a fold of adipose tissue, which is located under the surface of the skin.
Where did cellulite actually come from?
According to one of the theories, it was created as a result of evolution. Its purpose was to maintain a reserve of body fat in the event of less food availability. These reserves were to be used in case of pregnancy and breastfeeding. Currently, cellulite is treated as a defect and an ugly beauty defect, as a result of which women around the world are trying to fight biological conditions for perfectly smooth skin.
Who does it occur with?
First of all, it appears among young girls and women, both thin and overweight. However, it is commonly believed that people with more fat and less muscle are most at risk of developing orange peel. Overweight therefore affects its formation, in any case – having extra kilos there is a greater risk of cellulite formation. Contrary to popular opinion, this problem also affects men, although they have a different structure of connective tissue and lower estrogen levels, so it is not so common among them.
How to get rid of cellulite?
Due to the fact that it is not only an aesthetic problem, but also makes it difficult for blood to reach adipose tissue and remove toxins. Orange peel is difficult to eliminate completely, but it can be significantly reduced:
- Avoid hot baths, use cold and warm showers instead. Finish each shower with a cold stream of water to harden the skin.
- Move as much as possible, thanks to which you will activate stagnant lymph and improve blood circulation. Moderate-intensity exercise, such as cycling or swimming, is most recommended.
- Massage the body with a special brush, anti-cellulite sponge or seagrass glove. Massage the body in circular motions from the feet towards the thighs. Thanks to regular massages, you will remove toxins deposits. In order to see the effects as quickly as possible, a massage at home should last from 20 to 30 minutes.
