Coronavirus in Poland – the latest data

The Ministry of Health announced 10 new cases of coronavirus infection on Friday, September 528. The greatest number of cases was recorded in the province. Mazowieckie (91), Lublin (69) and Małopolskie (45).

Mazowsze and Małopolska have been at the forefront of the list of cases for a long time. This is due to, inter alia, from the number of inhabitants of these regions or people commuting there to work. Lubelskie, having 2,1 million inhabitants (compared to 5,4 million in Mazovia), has only recently appeared high in this specific «ranking». Previously, the number of COVID-19 cases in this province was small.

Let’s take the data from August 22 (Mazowieckie – 32 cases, Małopolskie – 16, Lubelskie – 4), August 16 (Mazowieckie – 20, Lubelskie – 2) or August 13 (Mazowieckie – 26, Małopolskie – 22, Lubelskie – 12). The situation changed at the beginning of September. Lubelskie jumped to the forefront, even being a leader. On September 9, out of 510 new cases of COVID-19, the most – 75 – came from the Lublin region. The second place was Mazovia with 54 infections.

  1. Anti-vaccines are sent to the doctor. “They wish they had vaccinated”

Why is this happening? The answer is quite simple.

New COVID-19 Cases. Most where it is least vaccinated

Once again, it must be reiterated that vaccination is the most effective way to protect against COVID-19 infection. Epidemiologists talk about it boringly, and the latest data also confirm.

The current wave of coronavirus, dominated by Delta variant, where the lowest percentage of those who are fully vaccinated is harvested the most.

– We have the highest infection rate per 10 in the country. residents – said Lech Sprawka, the Lublin voivode recently. He emphasized that Lubelskie was second from the end in terms of the rate of fully vaccinated people per number of inhabitants.

  1. Children are sick in one third of cases in the United States. “It is a pity that the Ministry of National Education does not understand this”

This interdependence is very evident. The same goes for hospitalizations – said the voivode.

Of course, this dependence does not only apply to the Lublin region. It is enough to have a look at the relevant statements on the vaccination coverage level and the number of infections in individual provinces, published regularly on Twitter by Wiesław Seweryn. He is a programmer and analyst who presents many graphs on COVID-19 based on data from the Ministry of Health.

The latest data show that the lowest vaccination level is in the east of Poland – in the voivodeship Podkarpackie (only 36,4% fully vaccinated), Podlasie (40%) and Lublin (42,3%). In turn, the largest number of new cases of COVID-19 from the last days per 100. of residents occurs in Lubelskie, Podlaskie, Zachodniopomorskie and Podkarpackie.

On the other hand, the rate of new infections is the lowest in the province. Świętokrzyskie, Wielkopolskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Śląskie, Lubuskie and Mazowieckie. There, the percentage of fully vaccinated people is greater than 50%. (however, the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship is an exception).

The R factor in Poland is increasing

Coronavirus infections in Poland are growing, and the R coefficient is also growing. The R index, i.e. the reproduction rate of the virus, tells about how many more people can be infected by a person suffering from coronavirus. A value lower than 1 may indicate that the epidemic is starting to wane, higher than 1 indicates that it is developing.

The average for Poland is currently over 1,3. The worst in this respect is the province. Lublin. The most recent coefficient for this region is 1,79 (data as of September 10).

  1. Nine drugs have the potential to treat COVID-19. These are well-known preparations

This indicator is also growing dynamically in Podkarpackie (from 1,17 to 1,42 in the last week), Podlaskie (from 1,27 to 1,52), Warmińsko-Mazurskie (from 1,02 to 1,56) and Lubuskie ( from 1,11 to 1,77). Out of these five voivodships, only the last one is fully vaccinated in over 50 percent, the remaining ones are in the last places in the “vaccination ranking”.

Data on the R indicator is published on Twitter by Adam Gapiński:
