- Ailments that can disfigure your feet in the summer
Summer is a natural period when we take off our heavy boots and let our feet breathe. Unfortunately, there are many ailments that can disfigure them, …
The first place that comes to mind when talking about athlete’s foot is, of course, the swimming pool. There is a reason – we enter the pool barefoot, so there is always a risk of catching an infection. It is similar in a sauna or thermal baths. Flaps that will protect us from contact with the floor before entering the pool itself will obviously be helpful. Also remember to wash your feet thoroughly after visiting such a place and rinse them with plenty of water in the shower. Then dry them thoroughly with your own towel. After visiting the pool, you can also use special sprays to protect against mycosis. Note – never go to the pool when your feet have abrasions, wounds or blisters.
Gyms are also a place of increased risk, where, while changing, your bare feet may come into contact with the floor. That is why we always take our flip-flops to such places – especially since we will need them under the shower. In addition, in the case of athletes, it is not without significance that their feet sweat intensively during exercise. In such cases, special powders can help. People who engage in less strenuous sports are also at risk of coming into contact with mushrooms. During yoga or some dance classes, you practice without shoes. In such cases, remember that you should never walk barefoot on the mat or the dance floor, but always wear socks.
A five-star hotel seems to be a safe pathogen-free place? Nothing could be more wrong. Even the best hotel staff will not be able to remove all the fungus spores 100 percent if they have been sown by a previous guest. Therefore, even if the room is sparkling clean, always use flip-flops in the shower and do not walk barefoot on the floor. In the case of boarding schools, it should be even more obvious.
Unfortunately, there are also known cases of fungal infections in beauty salons. Imagine that the pedicure was performed by a person in whom the fungal infection is just beginning and does not show any visible symptoms yet. If the cosmetic equipment has not been properly disinfected, the ringworm infection is almost done. Therefore, before using the services of a beauty salon, you need to be sure that the tools are thoroughly sterilized in it. The massage parlor is a place where we take clothes off, including socks. Never approach the massage table barefoot, always use disposable slippers or go there in socks.
Your home can be a reservoir of fungal spores if you have suffered from mycosis in the past or if one of your household is sick with it. Start the fight with spores by throwing away old rugs. Replace your slippers and always wear them around the house. Thoroughly disinfect all sanitary surfaces – for example, a paddling pool in a shower.
