Where and how to store lemons

Where and how to store lemons

Lemon contains a lot of useful vitamins and minerals, so it is important not to lose them during storage. Where to store lemon? There are different ways to do it right. They depend on the condition of the fruit.

How to store lemons, cut and whole

Choosing how you store whole fruits depends on how long you plan to keep them. If you need to store lemons for a short time, simply put them in the refrigerator in the fruit compartment. Moreover, each fruit individually must be wrapped in tracing paper or parchment paper. You can keep them in water for a little longer. To do this, put the lemons in a glass jar (loosely) and fill them with cool water. Change water every 2 days and rinse all fruits thoroughly.

Keeping lemons long-term is a little more difficult. There are three ways to do this:

• in a jar without oxygen;

• in sand;

• in wax.

Without oxygen, lemons will last for a really long time. For this method, you do not need any equipment, only a can and a candle. First, sterilize the jar. Fold the lemons into it and place a small candle (such as the one used for cakes). Light a candle and close the jar tightly. The fire will burn all the oxygen.

For the second method, dry the sand well. Pour a 3 cm layer on the bottom of the container. Fold the lemons wrapped in tracing paper and add another layer of the same sand.

The third method involves the use of molten wax. Using a brush, each lemon should be coated with wax and allowed to harden. After that, the fruit must be folded into a ventilated box.

How to store sliced lemon

Cut fruit is much more difficult to store as it dries out quickly. One option is to sprinkle a slice of lemon with salt or sugar, place it on a saucer, cut it down, and store it in a cool, dark place such as a refrigerator or closet. If the lemon is already cut into slices, then sprinkle it generously with sugar on top and pack it in a plastic container. Of course, such a fruit can be used only for tea or baking, but it will stay for several more days.

If you have a lot of sliced lemon left, grind it in a meat grinder or blender, mix with sugar and put in a glass jar. In the refrigerator, such a tasty and healthy mixture can be stored for quite a long time.

Now you know how to store lemons, so you can buy these healthy fruits for future use. Subject to all the rules, they not only will not lose their presentation, but will also remain as tasty and healthy as fresh.
