The COVID-19 coronavirus, which was detected at the end of 2019, is still spreading very quickly. All over the world, also in Poland, a number of restrictions have been introduced to reduce the number of infections. More and more often the question is how long the current situation will last. We asked Dr. hab. n. med. Tomasz Dzieśćtkowski, a virologist from the Medical University of Warsaw.
The characteristic symptoms of the COVID-19 coronavirus are dry cough, shortness of breath, and high fever. Our anxiety should also be caused by vomiting, muscle pain, sore throat, as well as bloodshot eyes and anosmia (lack of smell). If symptoms appear, call the hotline of the National Health Fund (tel. 800 190 590) or contact the nearest sanitary and epidemiological station. Qualified consultants will outline the adopted action plan.

Home quarantine – who is covered?
Not all people who have symptoms of the COVID-19 coronavirus go straight to the infectious diseases ward. Some of them are subject to a 14-day quarantine. Only when the symptoms worsen, they can go to the hospital, where they will be given immediate help. Quarantine also applies to people who have had direct contact with an infected patient, as well as all those returning from abroad (travel or work).
Due to the information coming from the country and the world, the question arises: when will the coronavirus cases peak in Poland? Dr. hab. n. med. Tomasz Dzieciatkowski, who admitted that he had a secret hope that it would happen next week, in two weeks at the latest.

With speculative values, two variants can be considered: in the most optimistic case, it will be over 3 cases a day, in the pessimistic variant – up to 8 cases a day.
