When asked during a press conference, when children aged 5-11 will be able to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in Poland, since on Thursday the European Medicines Agency gave the green light to such vaccinations, Andrusiewicz admitted that the agency “recognized the vaccine as safe and effective” but reminded that “this is not the same vaccine, it is not the same production line as vaccines for adults”.

«Today all indications of this will be the approval of this decision by the European Commission. Because I would like to remind you that this decision of the European Medicines Agency has to be approved by the European Commission, ”he said.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Health assured that the Polish side is prepared to “issue referrals for children aged 5-11 from next week, starting on Monday”.
«The first vaccines are to arrive to us around mid-December, that is 1,1 million vaccinations. We are currently making efforts to accelerate delivery times so that we can start vaccinating children earlier » – he informed.

«Certainly, together with the minister of education and science, we will undertake a fairly wide campaign directed at parents, not at children. To the attention of journalists that many parents do not want to vaccinate even 12-year-olds, Andrusiewicz replied: “Not every parent decides to get vaccinated against influenza, not every parent will even decide on compulsory vaccination and the best thing that can be done – because we will not force a parent to vaccinating a child, because that is not what it is about – it is convincing with substantive arguments ».
