Favorable days for planting seedlings at home or in a greenhouse
Root celery. His crop ripens the longest – 140 – 190 days. Therefore, seeds for seedlings should be sown from about January 20 to February 15 (1). If you don’t have time, you can sow it later, before April 10, but in this case, you need to choose the most early-ripening varieties that will yield a crop in 140 days.
Auspicious days for sowing root celery: 2 – 8, 12 – 13, 26 – 27 February, 4 – 7, 11 – 17 March, 1, 8 – 9 April.
Petiole celery. It ripens a little faster than the root, but also for quite a long time – 100 – 150 days. This means that petiole celery must also be grown as seedlings. Traditionally, seeds are sown for seedlings from February 20 to March 15. But it is possible later – until mid-April, if you choose the earliest varieties.
Favorable days for sowing petiole celery: 26 – 27 February, 4 – 7, 11 – 17 March, 1, 8 – 9, 13 – 15 April.
Leaf celery. The earliest of all varieties, but even it takes quite a long time to form a crop – 90 – 110 days. For an early harvest, it is better to grow it through seedlings – seeds are sown from February 15 to March 15. Early ripening varieties can be sown immediately on the beds – from April 20 to April 25 (2), and if the spring is long, cold, then until May 15.

Favorable days for planting seedlings in open ground

Favorable days for planting seedlings in open ground: 21 – 22, 25 – 26, 30 April, 1 – 15 May.
How to determine landing dates in your area
Since celery is a cold-resistant plant, seedlings can be planted early in the garden. Here it is important to focus not on temperature (he is not afraid of light frosts), but on soil moisture, since celery is a moisture-loving crop, it is important that while the seedlings take root, the earth does not dry out.
If the spring is early, petiole and leaf celery are planted on the beds from April 10 to 15. And root varieties – in the second half of April.
In a cold, protracted spring, it is better to shift the planting of seedlings to a later date: petiolate and leaf varieties – in early May, root – towards the end of May.
Tips for caring for celery seedlings
From the moment of sowing until the first shoots appear, it is important to monitor the soil moisture – it should not dry out. Boxes with crops should be kept in a warm place – shoots appear at a temperature of 25 ° C.
When the first true leaves appear on the celery, the box with seedlings should be placed in a cool and always bright place – young plants develop best at a temperature of 15 ° C, but if they are provided with lighting, then a temperature of 20 – 25 ° C can be optimal (3) .
In phase 3 – 4 true celery leaves should be planted in 200 ml hotel cups.
Seedlings should be watered regularly to keep the soil constantly moist. But do not forget to make sure that the water in the cups does not stagnate – celery does not like excess moisture.
