Beans are a thermophilic crop. For seedlings, bean seeds are sown 30 days before moving to the garden. By region, the approximate dates are as follows:

• in the southern regions – March 15 – 20;
• in the middle lane – April 15 – 25;
• in the Urals and Siberia – May 1 – 10.

How to prepare seeds for sowing

Bean seeds are very large and germinate without problems. You can sow them dry, or pre-soak for a day in warm water, or germinate.

– It is most convenient to germinate beans in a damp cloth. But since its seeds take in a lot of moisture, and the air in the apartments is dry, you can not keep track and the fabric will dry out, and the swollen seeds will die without moisture. Therefore, it is better to wrap the fabric in a plastic bag, advises agronomist-breeder Svetlana Mihailova.

The beans hatch very quickly – the roots appear already on the 3rd – 5th day.

You need to sow the seeds immediately in separate cups, because bean seedlings really do not like transplanting.

Bean seedling care tips

For the successful growth and development of beans, three components are needed: heat, an abundance of light and moisture.

“And here it is very important to strike a balance,” he says. Svetlana Mikhailova. – The optimum temperature for bean seedlings is 20–25 °C. If it is lower, the plants will begin to lag behind in development and the crop will eventually ripen later. With a lack of light, they will stretch out strongly, turn out to be loose and pampered. With a lack of moisture, seedlings fade very quickly. However, beans should not be poured either – she does not like excess water.

It is not necessary to feed bean seedlings – in favorable conditions, it grows like crazy, and nitrogen (it is they who feed plants at the beginning of growth) will provoke an even more violent development of shoots. Planting heavily overgrown seedlings on the beds is a dubious pleasure, besides, long shoots are easy to break.

Bean seedlings are planted on the beds when the threat of sub-zero temperatures has passed. In the middle lane, this is usually the end of May.
